TOBIE
This is a quick pic of my 2005 Wrangler X which I call Tobie. She's a Special Edition X because she has the Willy's package without all the shitty decals. I also got a wheel upgrade and threw on some 30" Wrangler MT/R's. Read, "used not abused" plus my garage is short on height so someday a lift is coming, after I get a new garage.

I have the front grill covered in chrome, chrome side bars, clear signal lenses, LED tail lights, and the best feature...all the interior lights have been switched over to purple LEDs (hard to get a pic...but it glows the color of the shift knob...LEDs purchased from www.dav-electronics.com knob from www.rippsknobs.com). Tinted the front windows, threw down some rubber mats to catch the trail mud and away I go.

Most recent mod is an interior gig, new Tuffy Glovebox and new Bestop Rollbar padding. Most Jeepers take the rugs out but instead I added more. Carpeted the interior rocker wall to cover some speaker wiring and dampen some road noise. It is quieter and it looks good.

I upgraded the dash sound with an Alpine CD-9885 head unit with built in XM radio. Its flip down face keeps the sand out of the CD slot and it's loud enough to be heard over the mud terrains and the top being down; now THAT's important!

I replaced all the speakers with more durable and more power. I put in some nice Kicker 5 1/4" DS Series (DS525) in the sound bar and used a 33 engineering adapter plate (covered in dynamat) to put a set of CDT Audio 5 1/4" (CL-51A) in the dash (I know not optimal but kicks would just be in the way and the doors are off all summer). Since they are pretty much suspended baffles they are backed with polyfill and dynaxorb tiles to settle the backwave.

Tweeters have yet to be permanently mounted, I'm checking for the optimal height. They'll be in the A column plastic. They're powered by a refurbed Profile 400sx (100x2 at 4ohm) amp. I recently fiberglassed an amp rack with a cover to keep the amps safe when the rear seat is out. Also the cover allows me to put the soft doors, groceries, or even stand on the amps (standing on them is key to putting in/taking out the rear seat). Pics coming soon.

I had swapped an Elemental Designs sub into the console but I've switched consoles for storage space and now have a custom trunk type box from www.just4effect.com carpeted and topped with Rhinoliner. Those ED are nice little subs though, I recommend doing the factory sub swap for a little extra edge.

I prefer the 10" Alpine Type R I put in the custom sub box tho. It's being powered by a Soundstream Stealth 1.600 (600x1 @ 2 ohms) amp (updated pic coming soon). Not a bad amount of bass for a wrangler. Oh and I can still fit a duffle bag of 'trunk' stuff next to the box.

It's summer so you know it sees a lot of ocean time. Plenty of beach bunnies and the top and doors are perpetually off. I have the tonneau and bikini to keep things dry and soft doors to keep the heat in at night. I run full soft doors and I recently added the mirror bracket to my full soft doors (pics coming soon).

I carry a little magnetic mirror with me when I want to run doorless in states that require a driver's side mirror. I got it from Cargoview mirror (www.cargoviewmirror.com). The guy who sells them is super nice and supports the Jeep community. Check one out for your Jeep!

I hated the SRC bumper I ordered so I sent it back...now I'm waiting to make a decision on a new setup. I like the LOD bumpers so I may go in that direction. Everyone teases me about my milk jug end caps, I just haven't been able to decide tho.

Someday a lift and winch will be added; can't wait until I ride high like I did in the YJ. I just have to find a house with a taller garage first.
