Update 7/9/2007: The car is being restored by Vintage Motors in AZ. Should be back home next month (they started in January). Will post more pictures when it's done.

This is the original car driven by Tom Cruise in the opening of his 2001 movie Vanilla Sky. Stored at Paramount for the last 5 years I picked it up as the foundation of for my Movie Car collection. Built on a 1976 Datsun Z chassis it is extremely clean but needs a few minor repairs to get it back into show condition.

I would love to hear from other GTO replica owners, or even you folks who managed to get your hands on the real thing!

Nice love the car. I got the movie when it first came out just to see the car along with Delirious staring john Candy . I am just finishing my 250 GTO I did a lot of custom work to it to make it more like the original. Longer wheel base, aluminum trunk and interior, half buckets, sliding side windows, dayton 15 x 8 and 15 x 7 72 spoke custom built rims w/ spinner. I did for now stick with the original 73 240z motor becouse I love the sound of it w/ the bora exhaust and the 5 speed. I was also lucky enough to find some of the original 250 parts like the hand brake, lites and the steering wheel . Can't wait to get it back and start showing this summer. BTW A must see video is the GTO Story with Innnes Ireland if you haven't seen it yet. Also my email address is autotoystore_1@netzero.net or wildlife39@localnet.com would love to here from you.
