Stripeh's 1989 Vauxhall Cavalier

I inherited this Cavalier a few weeks ago when my Grandfather (Don't laugh people!) Decided it was time to move to a smaller car. This is in reasonable condition, it needs some welding and has a small hole in the rear wheel arch. Also, the clutch needs replacing, the rear washer pipe needs replacing, electric window on the drivers door falls out upon winding it up, A bunch of bulbs that light up the instruments need replacing, it needs a new wiper switch as the intermittant function doesn't work... On the plus side, the engine is in good condition, all of the other electrics work and it's pretty fast.

This model didn't come with alloy wheels so I was contemplating getting some Vauxhall wheels off the GSI or CD models, possibly even an Air conditioning system and other little bits. I wanted to replace the standard phase 1 grille with one off of a later model and other little bits of external trim. Some white faced dials, white faced clock and some new seat from the inside.

All the things I want for the car will cost about ?900...

I bought a Cavalier, that an old guy used to own. Cannot fault it, its like going back in time, and driving it when it was brand new. Old guys know how to look after their cars.
As for your Air Con situation, dont bother mate.
Either keep this car and mod it up (without air con).
or
Go out and buy a Cavalier Diplomat. They have air con and heated leather seats as standard. You can probably get a half decent one on ebay for 500.
Then sell yours for around 400, and use the money to get some 17" wheels.
The project starts to unfold.
All the best mate.
