I recently bought a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu with a 454-ci and TH-400 transmission.

You can find more information on the car by viewing Page 3 or by browsing the vehicle's own page.

Muscle & Hot Rod Enthusiasts

I have created a CarDomain Group where enthusiasts can share their love for hot rods, classic and muscle cars. Share photos, links, ask questions or create general chatter in the forum, find others interested in buying or selling classic autos or parts, and so on. It's a public group, anyone may join, and most of all have fun!

I bought the '70 Chevelle in September '06 from a fellow who I found out was also a member of this site (visit his page). I'm a 22 year old without much extra funds so I'm afraid there may not be too much done to it for a couple years. I'm currently in the process of removing the 350-ci currently in it, and installing a 1970 Olds 455-ci big-block which I already own (came in a '71 Cutlass I purchased for $500 from an uncle), along with a new camshaft and headers. It looks like the conversion might just take a little longer though since I just moved, and the new garage is too full to work on cars for the winter. The stock specs for the 455 is 365-hp and 500-lbs/ft, so we'll see what the new configuration will do!

The car originally came with a big-block though a previous owner removed it and dropped it in an El Camino.

I should mention, as a note to purists, that finding a Chevrolet big-block, especially in my area, is nearly impossible. I also don't have the money to buy one of the most sought-after engine's (396/402 & 454) on the market today. The Chevelle's original big-block has long since been taken out (before I got my hands on the car), so it doesn't bother me to insist on installing a 455 cubic inch torque monster, instead of the mild 350-ci that it had when I bought it. Lastly, early Oldsmobile blocks are much stronger than the blocks Chevrolet produced in that era. Oldsmobile engines were high in nickel content, and will take nearly twice as long to wear to the same degree a low-nickel content block (Chevrolet is a prime example) would under the same conditions. So as a poor student, I'll take larger cubic inches, greater durability, and gut-wrenching torque & horsepower all in one dependable $500 package, thanks.
