First of all, this is not my car, its my dads. He orderded it new from ford in '77 and has had it ever since. Originally it had a 400m but it '85 the block cracked and he found this 429 out of a '73 mercury for 150 bucks. He completely rebuilt it and its been in there ever since. With the 429, C-6 with two shift kits, and 4.56 posi, it runs like a striped ass ape lol. It has an aluminum high rise with a Holley 850 double pumper, hooker headers that go into 3 inch exhaust and flowmaster super 40's. The wheels are vintage ET Kelstars. It has an original Pioneer Super Tuner am/fm 8track. It was repainted in 1982 but the guy that did it was an idiot and it looks like crap now. Its still a blast to drive though and it gets lots of looks because you dont see many rancheros. Especially not hot rod ones lol. The truck itself has around 90,000 on it, and theres almost no rust. It has only been driven in snow 4 times. Anything else ya wanna know, just ask.
We finally got the new upper control arm bushings it needed with a new pair of front tires. We threw a new set of shocks on it too just for the hell of it. Circuit City is going out of business so we picked up a cheap pair of Pioneer speakers to replace the 30 year old Jensens in the doors.
PLANS FOR THIS SUMMER: New intake gasket, waterpump and gasket. Time to stop some leaks that have started in the last 24 years. Coolant flush...its at least 20 years old. Tranni flush and filter too. Its at least as old as the coolant.
Its really a 50-footer. When your far away from it, it looks great.
