71barracuda's 1971 Plymouth Barracuda

how it started

This car was going to be shiped to europe, at the time i found it. It was in bad shape so i made the guy an offer. $2500 and he took it.

The previous owner did not know what he had. I think he might have used this car as a stress management tool. all of the quarter panals were bashed in with a sledge hammer, and the trunk and hood had 27 different colors of spraypaint dots. I guess he couldn't make up his mind about the color he wanted.

So insted of buying all new panels i bought a '73 cuda and used it for parts, then sold it for some extra cash.

The original engine was a 318 but there was no way I was going to keep that so, I found a 440 that was used in an old police car. The engine was seized so i took it to a machine shop and they boored it 40 over.

The color is curiosity yellow and the converible is also a stock feature. No chop shop. I wanted to keep the car as close to matching the tag as possible.

Well about after 3 years in the shop this is the finished product. My thing is that i don't take my car to a car show that I have already placed or won.

Great looking car! I like the wheel selection, they look tuff. If you havent visited my page before, I have posted a couple of original 1971 Chrysler - Plymouth sales brochures. Check out what your car looked like in the original sales brochure, and some of the styles and options that were available in 1971. Its kinda cool! Thanks and 5*s.
