Hey all this is my 1979 VB SL commodore. I got it in Jan 06 as it is and havent changed it because my dad wont let me modify it untill im on my P's. It has a red 202 with Trimatic 3speed. It is dual fuel with the LPG tank taking up about a third of my boot space. It has a cheapo head unit i got from my brother and four 4in cheapo speakers which came with the car.I bought it for $1000 with 300 000 km on the clock but it hasnt let me down and its great to drive. The seats in both the front and the back are like a lounge.
When i get my P's i intend to do abit of work on it but because of resrictions on engine size im limited to a 6. So after thinking for a while i came up with the following plan;
*Reconditioned 265 hemi 6 mildly worked
*Beefed up Trimatic
*Convert the car to straight LPG
*Convert engine to LPG injection kit
*LPG tank put in a drop tank relpacing the current fuel tank
*Decent sound system suitable for heavy metal (no doof)
Im not wanting to change the outside look as i dont really want to attract the attention of the police. I intend to fully engineer the car but i dont want to attract attention with it. The reason for the hemi is that ive looked into modifying the 202 and it just doesnt seem viable.
It should be pretty cheap to run with the LPG injection system if im to belive the guys im getting the system off. the system seems to be so much better than anything currently available and it seems from people ive spoken to that its the real deal. this is their website for anybody interested

Things took a turn for the worst at my flatmates 18th when we went out to pick up another friend and it all went wrong. I know it was bad of me but i was speeding and took a corner way to fast. At this point my car decided it would be great to understeer and smack into the gutter at about 80km/h. This resulted in my front steering arm becoming bent and my rear axle shifting about 4 inches to the left. I will get pics up when i can. I can only blame myself but it gives me the perfect opportunity to build it up now.
i have left the 265 idea in the "too hard" bin because of EPA test unless i find a 265 from 79-81 which is when they stopped producing them. im just going to put in a 308 but im in 2 minds about how to modify it.
Choice 1. Work it N/A and put a ram air setup on it with the trumpets kept under the bonnet.
Choice 2. Put on a turbo using those rear mount turbos that sit at the back of the car near the diff.
Both have their pros and cons but im looking more towards the N/A one as i can build up the engine without the trumpets and do it peice by peice but the turbo setup needs to be done pretty much in one go.
