The '68 Chevy has been ours since 1980, a year before I was born. My dad and mom got married in 1979 (he was alot older than her... thats another story) and they lived in New York for a while as he was working there. Then they moved back to Spokane in 1980, to be closer to my dad's home town, Ione. They took the long way around to visit people and in Arizona, the Ford Van they had bought in New York to drive home broke down. At the time, the only truck they found that they could afford with the trade in of the van at a car lot was a '68 Chevy truck sitting in the back, with no turn signals, no air cleaner, and a few other issues. About $1200 later and the van they fixed anough of the issues to drive it through California and up to Spokane.
I was born in Spokane in 1981, and this was our main pickup truck since then up until 1994 when we retired it and got a 4x4. As my dad wrote in his vehicle records "We bought this truck only to get by for now". But the '68 stayed with us, and still runs with the same motor and drivetrain to this day. I since have inherited it since my dad died in 1997.

The '68 parked in Ione where it has lived since it was retired in 1994. It's duties were taken over by the '80 GMC, seen in the background.

For now, all I need to do is license it to be able to drive it again. In 2002/2003 I did drive it again after being "decommissioned" from street/highway use in 1994. It was kind of strange driving it around with so many changes in Spokane, at the house, and with my other trucks, but the truck's sounds were exactly as they were 8-9 years before when I rode in it with my dad. With the exception of tires and wheels and a rebuilt carb and alternator, nothing on it had changed.
