3.0 to 3.5 engine swap

Here is some pic's of me bringing home the new beast a 3.5 motor from a 2002 maxima. This is right after a lifted the engine out of the truck

Starting the tear down process and here's some of parts that I will not need from the new motor

I choose to make some changes and mods to the engine, like a polished and gutted intake manifold, polished and painted timing chain cover, painted the upper and lower oil pan, shorty headers, new tensioner, timing chain and other random parts

We it's labor day weekend of 2008 and I am starting the swap.  So I am drain the fluids, disconnecting stuff blah blah blah.  Now I am removing my intake maniflod cause I do not want it to get messed up during the swap since I plan to sale it and I look down and I'm like WTF.  I have a variable intake with butterfly flaps that switch over from low to high rpms and the butterflys are in the lower intake and heads, so you know were the screws are.  So I plan out the flaps and notices that the rod that they flaps rotate on has broken into peices and guess what the 3 cylinders that were given me problem are the 3 were the flaps broke.

Here are some pic's on me and fellow maxima.org member Darryl aka accordingtou pulling the old motor, swaping over the tranny, clutch, flywheel, psi plate, power steering pump, alt, belts and ect.  And pic with the 2 motors side by side

Well the motor and tranny is in and now reconnecting and bolting everything down.  Next we'll try to start it and see what happens.  Well it starts and idles fine, time to give everything the once over and take it for a spin

When doing a 3.5 swap you need to either convert the 3.5 drive by wire throttle body to cable drive or buy a pathfinder throttle and adapter.  I could not find a pathfinder tb at the time so I just converted the the 3.5 tb.

Here a are some pic's of the converted 3.5 tb

So I finally found a pathfinder throttlebody on ebay and bought a adapter plate from stephenmax and converted over.  I removed the 3.5tb from above ^ and installed the pftb with this you do not need a custom bracket for the tps and get your cruise control back since it's cable driven from the factory.  To make it work you just need to either redrill your intake mainfold or that a adapter plate and make a bracket to hold the throttle and cruise cable.  Also you can either use the pftb iacv or the maxima iacv, since I already had the iacv plate I use the maxima's.  Since I did not use the pftb iacv I would to remove it jb weld the iacv hole shut and make a block off plate.  Here are some pic's

Here is a pic of the block off plate and pic's of were I jb welded the iacv port shut and took the dremel and sanded it flush.  One of these days I am going to take the tb and elbow to the machine shop and have him redrill the holes so I do not need the adapter plate for a cleaner look

What year millenia has the 11.5lb wheels? I gotta start looking for a set. Did you happen to weigh the saw blades?

Thanks. I cant post threads on the org yet because I'm a newbie, But I actually finished it today and drove it. Everything was actually perfect. It's set at 10 pounds and it is just ridiculous. I had so much fun driving it today that I stayed out till 11:30 just driving around punching it on every straight away. The sound and raw acceleration are indescribable. I plan to make a video so people can see what I'm talking about.
