I bought this 65 mustang at age 17 as a daily driver. About 8 months later I decided at the coaxing of some friends that it didn't have enough power so research began. Many skipped classes later we came up with the idea of putting in a 351w. It took the better part of ten months but we managed to remove the engine, interior and all of the engine compartment metal. After learning to weld I put in new panels in the engine compartment, floor, and just about anywhere that had rust from forward of the trunk area. We then smoothed the engine bay, removing any holes and shaving anything that wasnt necessary. After finishing in one all nighter we borrowed a friend's grandfather's cherry picker and put in the engine built by me. It is a 10.5 to 1 compression ratio with forged pistons bored .40 over, topped off with an edelbrock rpm airgap manifold and an edelbrock 750 cfm carb. It has an edelbrock performer fuel pump backed by custom bent 3/8 line. There is a canton stock style oil pan on the bottom and it is backed with a stock c-4 (needs replacing) and a soon to be installed 9 inch versailles rear with trac loc and 3.70 gearing. I will soon be completely rebuilding the back half of the car with new custom frame rails, coilovers and a fourlink setup. Not only that but I intend to put in a mustang II front end with 13 inch cobra brakes and probably 18 inch bullits. When I back half the car, I will be using the rear inner wheelhousings to do a minitub on the car in order to fit some tires bigger than 275's in the back. Eventually, my plans are to put in a t56 transmission behind a stroked and blown 351w but for now, I am just doing what I can, when I can.
Other custom options I have installed are a foxbody 4 cylinder brake booster and master cylinder, a custom built shock tower brace and I have bought the bender and pipe to do a custom subframe connector system but need to replace the frame rails first. I also have 99 cobra tan leather seats inside with some custom built door panels and kick panels. I am in the process of covering the majority of the interior with black vinyl but I am not finished, I have yet to do the dash. When I put in the subframe connectors I will also install some custom seat pans to substitute for the ones I had to cut out for seat install. There are so many things I want to do but can't find the time or money with school.

By the way, the pics aren't new. There is now a hood and most of them are from the build. The interior has no pics but eventually I will get some. Sorry I am in most of the pics but they are all I got right now.

looks like a good project well on its way. kind of the same deal for me but im opting to build my 289 and stroke it to 302. .040" seems a little risky on an oem block, but hey, if it works, knock yourself out. im building my motor 11.5:1 right now, dont know how im going to afford the race gas, but ill get by. check out my fastback and tell me what you think. im open to suggestions.
