Here is my car... The old but wonderful parents of mine bought this at the end of 93. I took over as the owner in 2001. It does have the 4.6 Northstar that produces 270 HP and 300 ft-lbs of torque stock.
Cadillac shows the newer 1998 engine that is suppose to produce 30 more HP and 5 less ft-lbs of torque at the flywheel than mine. A test by Hot Rod magazine shows this translates to 216.1 HP and 222 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. During a dyno my car came up with 9.3 more HP (225.4) and 12.2 more ft-lbs (234.2) of torque at the wheels (before the Superchip). I guess the exhaust (Car Sounds catalytic converter and Dynomax mufflers) and intake (custom tubing and a K&N filter) has helped a little. I want to increase the diameter of the piping in time.
The headlights were replaced with BMW E36 lights. I didn't like the rectangular enclosure the Eldo came with... Plus the light wasn't focused very well. The low beams are real Xenon's with ballasts. The fog lights on the bottom are cheap $40 ones from Autozone (not too bad right?). I'm not a showoff so the lights are really just to help me see at night. UPDATE: Changed these to Sylvania X1010 Xenon Auxillary Low Beams. Pretty nice... Cost $270.
The wheels are Eagle 17 x 8 in. The company is located in Houston. The tires on them right now are BF Goodrich 255/50/17. The car has been lowered 1 inch by Eibach pro springs. They're nice because they do provide a lower center of gravity and in general less body roll. I installed the front springs myself and let Midas do the rear (they had to redrill the holes for the auto leveling and all my tools are at home). The front rotors are SP slotted and drilled.
Using an inflation calculator the retail price adjusted to the current year is $51,000.
