This was my first car, i got it in May of 2004 when i was 14. My grandpa bought it new and then sold it to my dad in 1992 who sold it to a friend in 2000. A few years later, i got it back and got it rode worthy again. Its a '77 F-100 that came originaly with a 140 h.p. 302 and a 3 on the tree. when i had it, it had a roller cam 302 out of a '91 mustang hooked up to a classic toploader 4speed. The 5.0 breathed through true dual exhaust and DynoMax Super Turbos. My dad did the major modifications when he owned it. Besides the motor and tranni, he also added power steering, a brand new seat out of a '95 F-150, rear helper springs, sliding rear window, Lund visor, and many other small things. The wheels that are on it in the pictures are from a '90 f-150 4x4, they are 15x8, with 31x10.5. After i got it back from my dads buddy, it sat for about 2 years before i got my license. Surprisingly i didnt have many major problems. We replaced the master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, front calipers, and a brake line. I did have to put a new clutch in it. No big deal. I had access to a lift at my highschool, which made the job so much easier. It runs really good for as long as it sat. The truck itself had 143,000 miles on it when i got rid of it. With that and the fact that it was never stored inside and its from ohio, it had a considerable amount of rust. The frame had holes rotted through on both sides behind the rear axle about the size of a baseball. The floorboards were long gond, the front cab mounts were about to drop, it just wasnt safe to drive. I really wanted to restore it, thats why i got it in the first place, but it just wasnt an option. Surprisingly though, the outer body was really decent for the condition of the undercarraige. It was rusty as hell, but theres wasn't a dent in it, it was never in an accident. Mechanically, the truck was very sound. It ran great and would do a decent burnout lol.

Thanks for looking at my 79. This truck sounds alot like mine when I first got it. Just my opinion, but I think you should keep it and just work on it little by little. These old trucks are alot of fun to work on and it sounds like you have already put alot of time and effort into it. It would be a shame to see it junked out. But good luck on whatever you decide. Ps. The black is actually a really dark purple that can look blue or black depending on the angle and the light. Keep Watching!

I have always liked the ford trucks from the 70's. I think yours sounds like a solid truck. I have to say, that the most important thing is the sentimental value. I still have my first car, and plan on fixing it up someday also. Keep on truckin!!!

A friend of mine has a 78 with a wooden box on his truck. It looks good. Maybe you could use that as an option. It would save you money too. He just used scrap pieces of wood, and then stained it all a dark color. Just an idea for you. Don't give up, your truck has potential, and you have the right idea, just do it as you can. Best of luck and keep me posted!!!
