VISIT MY GARAGE
Here is my 1994 Eagle Summit ES coupe. It has a 1.5l (4g15) 4 cyl. engine and a manual 5-spd trans. It only has 92hp but is great on gas. Purchased for $5000cdn. back in 1999 it has been a good car for my wife and I. Here is how it looked shortly after receiving it.
The first mod I did was to change the wheels. I bought some wheels at a wrecker. They were off a 1980's Audi and were 14 inch in diameter. I stripped and sanded, primed and painted them silver. I then had new rubber installed, I think theywere Predator GTS from Canadian Tire.
The next mod was a chrome exhaust tip.
Then I replaced the Eagle Summit ES emblems with custom designed (myself) Mitsubishi Mirage emblems. I also tinted the windows myself and added a Mitsubishi diamond in tint on the rear window. A K&N drop-in filter was also added.
Next I installed some clear side markers that were taken from a VW Jetta. A hood bra was also added and the rear drums were painted red.
Then I went a little crazy. I installed vinyl graphics to the hood, fender and windshield. I cut out the front bumper grill and intalled a mesh grill. I cut out thefog light holes and installed fog lights. I made headlight eyelids out of old bumper pieces and added cardon fibre (fake) vinyl to change the look of the headlights. Side window vent visors in smoke color were added to the windows and the Audi wheels were painted white to go along with the theme.
Then I added more vinyl on the rear passenger side with more Mitsubishi diamonds. The windshield banner was changed to a color matched blue. Headlight vinyl was also changed with the same vinyl. Tail lights and corner lights were pin striped, and the exhaust tip was replaced with a Ractive muffler. The amber reflector was also removed from the rear tail lights.
Winter came and with it a few more changes. First was the removal of the side window tint. I was stopped by police and forced to remove it due to the darkness of it. I added a rear window spoiler, it came off of a late 80's Honda Civic HB. I installed stock steel wheels with 2-winter tires (front) and 2-all-season tires on the back. I continued my graphic theme with the checkerboard being blown away. Modified the pin-stripes on the rear taillights to expose the turn signal/back-up lights. Finally I added Mitsubishi emblems to the mirrors side windows and rear side marker lights and removed pin-stripes from front corner lights and vinyl from headlights.
With spring there were even more changes. Over the winter I picked up a set of used 16-inch TSW Stealths with Yokohama A520 tires. I also re-applied window tint myself this time in a legal blue color.
Then came the addition of neon lighting. With blue underglow from Street Glow. Strobe lights in head and tail lights, LED washer nozzles, interior neon light.
The next changes were the installation of some cheap EBAY coilovers (sleeve style) on stock struts. I also added a blue front license plate cover. The hood/fender/side vinyl graphic were removed anlong with pin-sripes on tail lights, the Mitsubishi emblems on mirrors, side windows and rear marker lights. Gone also are the hood bra, windshield banner and headlight eyebrows.
Winter returned and I painted my Audi wheels which were white, a gun-metal grey. The tires were replaced with Michelin X-Ice winter tires. Clear corner lights were put in place of the stock amber ones. The coil-overs were turned all the up to increase ground clearance.
I bought another set of wheels and tires to use when it's still not nice enough for the summer ones, but no snow left for the winter ones. They came off a Honda Prelude and cost me $120 for a set of 5 with almost brand new rubber.
Once all the snow melted I began another round of change. I replaced the EBAY coilovers and stock struts with KYB GR-2's and Progress Group lowering springs. The car doesn't sit as low as it did before but the handling is much improved. The last pieces of vinyl were removed along with the roof mounted spoiler. I also removed all the Mitsubishi Mirage emblems and rear window diamonds. I did however add a front lip spoiler, which I made out of another Summit bumper turned upside down.
The front spoiler didn't last long, only about a week. Along with it's removal came the reamoval of the side window ventvisors and the blue window tint.
When fall came around I had the idea to put my EBAY coilover springs back on with the KYB GR-2's. I installed just the springs, no sleeves or collars. I wanted to see how low I could go. Even though I loved the look, it rode like garbage, my tires would rub and I would hit the curb of my driveway even at an angle. I also replaced my Ractive muffler with a carbon fiber one.
After only a couple of days I decided to spare my tires any more damage and try another set of winter tires. This time Michellin Arctic Alpin's mounted on the stock steel wheels. The wheels were painted gun-metal grey and stainless steel rim rings were added. I planned on putting the stock spring and struts in for winter at this time but I was curious as to how my car would ride with these wheels and tires. The 185/65/R13'S gave a much softer ride lowered than my 205/45/R16's did at stock height. So I drove like this until the snow fell then I put the stock suspension back in.
Summer arrived and I returned to my KYB's and Progress springs. I also adjusted the angle of my muffler, so it would sit level with the rear bumper.
The last things I did before winter came again were to get my neon lights working again. I had removed some and thought some were burnt out. It turned out that they all still worked I just happened to blow a relay. I have yet to re-install the side 48-inch underglows. I also added a front bumper grill from a Mitsubishi Mirage. I also used reflective tape for the Mitsubishi diamonds.
