First let me say that I did not want this car. My husband had to talk me into buying it. I was driving a 2000 Mazda Miata that I had thrown a supercharger on (167 rwhp). In late 2003 I was selling the Miata and was looking for another car. My husband practically begged me to get a coupe. But I had a fox body Mustang before and I abandoned the car because it sucked so bad. I had a very bad taste in my mouth about fox body Mustangs.
Eventually he talked me into it. So I drove 180 miles away (to Melbourne, FL) to look at this coupe. After being warned by the soon-to-be previous owner that it had a King Cobra clutch in it and that it was a pretty strong clutch for a girl, I took her for a test drive. She was OK. She was basically stock - only a cold air intake, 3.73 gears, and subframe connectors. I offered him money and we took her home.
We drove over to Melbourne in the Miata and on the way home with my hubby driving the Mustang and me in the Miata, we get into it on the interstate. The Miata stomped the Mustang. I couldn't believe it. So we pulled over and switched cars. Once again, the Miata just walked all over the Mustang. When we got home, I asked my hubby to remind me why I bought this car.
So when I bought her, she had 90,000 miles on her. I drive her every day ~ about 60 miles round trip. Now she has about 140,000 on her and she is running stronger than ever.
She's been on the dyno a few times for tuning and her last pull was at Blue Moon in New Port Richey... 577 HP and 530 TQ.
I've taken her to the track a couple of times. So far her best pass was:
60: 1.52
1/8 ET: 6.80
1/8 MPH: 104.02
1/4 ET: 10.74
1/4 MPH: 125.5
