Ok, so I bough this car for my girlfriend in the summer of 05 knowing the transmission slipped. In December 05 I purchased a used transmission from a salvage yard. It had a 30 day warranty. Using my uncle's garrage, my cousin and I began the trans swap on the 27th day... and finished on the 31st. When all was said and done, the transmission had reverse and 2nd gear... nothing else... and it was 1 day past the warranty period. On top of that, the engine would not idle, and ran erratically. Frustrated, I parked it and started it periodically until summer 06. Late in summer 06, I started the car, and it was running particularly bad... and loud. I shut it off and checked the oil... or lack thereof. The drain plug had been stripped, and someone had put locktite on it to keep it in, and we had not followed in this practice. The oil had all slowly dripped out and I had revved the engine hard to keep it running... with no oil. I now had a lovely knocking sound coming from the depths...

Now I had 2 problems...

But I had driven the car once, and it's the second fastest car I've ever been in, the first being a tweaked IROC Z28. That's not taking anything away from the IROC, but rather pointing out that the 3.4 DOHC puts out like a rigged slot machine. With the KBB price being $3400, and me having about $3000 less than that invested, I figured I could afford to invest some money.

The engine is currently stripped down almost to the block, parts in the mail, and the piece of crap transmission laying in the corner.

Some Pics of the Engine... 3.4 24V DOHC
