Chikubi's 2007 Honda Fit

Hmmm, been a while since I've updated this, so here goes . . . .

It looks pretty much stock. That'll change in the coming year, but for this year money mostly went into the exhaust setup and some smaller performance/dress-up mods.

Chikubi's 2007 Honda Fit

FIrst major mod was doing a JDM vertical rear wiper conversion. I've seen lots of JDM hatches, wagons, and vans with this mod, so it's pretty authentic. A while back I found a Japanese DIY, so I did it myself, and with great results. A translated DIY from my homepage is here. Hand in hand with the rear wiper is a Euro plate I added recently. Seems odd maybe to mount it like it is in the pic, but it's another common item seen on JDM rides, and it compliments the wiper mod perfectly.

First big power mod was installing a Last Station Power Box Type R intake. This is the most popular JDM intake, period. LS released a USDM version not long ago and I bought the first one in the US. There were a few issues with installing it in a USDM Fit at first, but I worked with them and we got all the kinks straightened out. I wrote the English Power Box installation manual for them, and you can DL a copy of it from here. (.pdf file)

Next major power mod, and the one that's my favorite, is a J's Racing 50RS titanium cat back exhaust. Big difference in power and sound, and at just over 50% the weight of the OEM piece, there isn't another setup that can touch it. Killed my mod budget for the year, but I wouldn't trade it for anything (OK, maybe an S2000).

Minor engine mods include a T1R Ignition Booster, JDM Type-R Oil cap, and magnetic drain plugs. J's Racing headers are on the menu for next year to round out the exhaust setup, and one of these days I'll install the T1R voltage stabilizer I bought, too.

After that it's a bunch of smaller interior mods -- mostly comfort/utility stuff (mats, cargo liner, etc) to keep the car looking good, from which a sweet Project Mu shift knob, a set of JDM Honda Access door sills, and a Zoom Engineering carbon/kevlar rearview mirror stand out in particular.

One last and really unique mod is this JDM body-colored TOMOKI Kurz short antenna, which is the only one in the U.S. and one of only a few in Japan as well. This was made for me special by TOMOKI due to a request I made to a Japanese Fit owner regarding a similar antenna I had seen on his homepage commemorating the 2006 Japan Fit Owners' Club's national meet. The USDM and JDM antenna's are different in size, so TOMOKI made a whole new JDM size to accomodate the difference. I'm working w/ TOMOKI to work up a US-spec version, but it's still ongoing. It's the shortest antenna for the Fit there is, so hopefully they'll release it here someday.

"uuhhh... what's the "T1R Ignition Booster" for?? for ignition only or is this the stuff people use to call VS (voltage stabilizer)???" It's a kind of voltage stabilizer that affects the ignition system. It basically filters out noise that gets in the way of firing the plugs at their top efficiency. Some say it's BS, but I've gotten a regular 2-3 mpg gain, it idles smoother, and the throttle response is improved as well. Wouldn't say say there's a power increase though.
