Interior and Sound System Page

This is how the interior started:

It really hasn't changed much. I took out the factory AM/FM/6-disc head unit and added a Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit along with a pair of Clarion 200W 3-way 5x7's in the front doors, a pair of Clarion 140W 2-way 5x7's in the rear doors, and a 10" Kicker Competition Amp in a custom box in the rear. The four Clarions are pushed by a Jensen 200W 2-channel amp and the sub is pushed by a Jensen 300W single channel amp.

I'll get some pics of the subs and amps asap.

The clarions are very crisp, except the 2-ways were making a dull thud when the bass really hits. I couldn't seem to tune it out with the EQ or the amp settings and it was killing the bass that was made by the sub. Thanks to Greg over at Traffic Jams in Bristol, TN this system sounds awesome now.

I don't like my amp set up. It looks cluttered and crappy. If there was room under the seats, I'd install them there, but it ain't happening. Please give some suggestions on an arrangement that looks better.

7/27/07 Update: The Pioneer head unit has started to give me trouble (won't eject cd's sometimes), so Greg over at Traffic Jams is gonna install a new Clarion AM/FM/CD/MP3 head unit on Monday 7/30. They are also (hopefully) gonna hide the amps and all the audio wiring, as well as wire up all of my offroad lights. I'll post up pics when all the work is done.

8/2/07 Update: Once again, thanks to Greg at Traffic Jams my new Clarion head unit and light switches are installed.

The only other thing I've done to the interior is added some safety equipment for wheeling trips. SImple stuff; a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and a 3 D-cell Mag light.

The CB is installed, but only in a temporary location for now. I installed a single 4' trucker antenna in the bed.

Future Interior Mods:

1. Custom Enclosure between the sunvisors to hold a Cobra 19 CB/PA and switches for the offroad lights. This is already built, we just haven't had a chance to install it yet.

EDIT: This idea is most likely scrapped. My neighbor and I are just too damn busy, and we work different shifts. The light switches are now gonna be under the head unit and the cb will stay where it is for the time being.

2. External speaker for the CB. (EDIT: already installed. Just needs to be hidden.)

3. Grey leather headliner.

4. Seats recovered; grey leather on the outsides and yellow leather in the middle. Or, maybe just some black and yellow racing seats from Summit.

5. All trim panels that are black are going to be painted yellow.

Anybody have any other ideas?
