This was our first demolition derby that we built a car for. If you havn't been to Drumheller, Alberta then i'll explain. The whole place has ground made of a very fine clay. It rained for 2 days before the demo started and so the result was a slippery, muddy, and generally unpleasant location for a demolition derby. We still had fun wrecking the Marquis though.
We bought the car for $350 from a salesman at my brothers workplace (his boss sponsors us). It had power everything and even had airbag suspension in the rear end. We easily had the newest car by probably 10 years. Still not sure if that was a good idea due to fuel injection and electronics adding complications.
The whole rig. The truck dealership let us borrow a truck, trailer, and motorhome for the trip. They also payed for all the car parts and expenses. Sounds like a good deal to me.
The Aftermath of Oval Dirt Track Racing. Not much, just got a little dirty. 2nd Place.
After the first heat. Flat tire and a burnt out engine grounding strap. Quick fix and we're back in. Ended up in 2nd Place.
Cleaning it up... notice number 96 on top of the yellow car and our car rammed into him.
After heat 2 we loaded it right on the trailer. Looks the same because we blew the gears out of the differential right off the start. Most likely the result of us having to weld the differential together to create a posi rear end. Oh well. So heres the pictures of it in front of the shop in Innisfail.
Some of the competition.
Good times.

But I do have a group on facebook. Hit me an e-mail. I'll order a decal for ya and you can park at shows beside us. Well beside my unkles pontiac wave and myself. The rest of the crew arn't ready yet. My man still has a lot of work to do on his Honda CRX. He just put the lambo doors on it and the wide body kit is on the way. there still is so much more to do. Trevor: thanks for the comments. It is not very often that you can read about another cardomain member and know exactly the locations you speak of. Central Alberta is becomminga motorsports mecca, Rimbe, Edmonton International Speedway, your derbies and Castrol Park.....all within an hour of my front door!I like the car done up in the WWII P-40 Warhawk paint, nice sharks mouth, someone has some talent. I am a member of the Red Deer Cruizers............every thurs evening during the summer in a parking lot due east of the down town SuperStore, is where we gather , on good nights 130 cars will show up....Kind of an impromptu show n' shine every thursday night. Drop by next spring and check out the heavy metal. Lots of it . Take care dw
