This is my 1996 Polo Green 350ci LT1 corvette with beige interior and tinted roof. The car now has the OEM sawblade wheels, a K&N air filter, and a Flowmaster cat back exhaust system. The rest of the car is mostly stock. I estimate horsepower with these modifications to be somewhere between 310 and 320, probably closer to 310 hp. Zero to sixty takes about 5 seconds, maybe fractions of a second less depending on road and weather conditions. The engine seems to really like the cold air in the winter, I have noticed a slight increase in power. Most people don't know that a 172 mph top speed can be achieved with a stock 1992 - 1996 LT1 powered corvette though I have not done it in mine! This figure is from a Road and Track article from the early 90s. The C4s offer a lot of bang for the buck and are a lot of fun, they are like a muscle car crossed with an exotic. You sit really low and the interior has a cockpit-like feel, this is the last vette that feels so low, C5 and C6 vettes are much easier to get into and out of. Even after 10 years, there are few new cars that can match its tight handling and acceleration. C4 corvettes are also currently the most attractively priced. A nice one can be purchased for $7,000 - $12,000, fair ones even less.
I recently bought a rear window hatch vent clip which holds the hatch about an inch or so up while driving and the exhaust sounds great and it reduces wind turbulance when driving with the top off. My next project is to strip the clearcoat from the wheels and polish the aluminum to a chrome like finish. I would also like to redo the stereo system, the stock delco bose system leaves a lot to be desired.
Please remember to rate my car, I will return the favor and rate yours if you sign my guestbook.
