Warped Rubber Rear Spoiler Repair and Install
The next series of pictures will show the repair process I used to fix the warped rubber rear spoiler for my car. These spoilers are a discontinued GM Original option on the 1988-1989 LeSabre T-Types, if you are able to find one OEM, GM retails the spoiler for $1700.00 CDN (OUCH!!!). These spoilers are very prone to warpage and cracking due to the metal re-inforcement and mounting strip inside the spoiler rusting.
I purchased my spoiler on ebay from a guy in Texas a few years back for $200.00 delivered. It had a small crack and some warpage. This had to be fixed...
I first removed the spoiler from the car and cut the old metal mounting bar out of the back side of the spoiler. I then cleaned up the spoiler and took it to a local fab shop to have a new Stainless Steel mounting bar made.
The following four pictures show the stripped and cleaned rear spoiler and the newly fabricated stainless steel mounting bar. I had the fab shop extend the mounting bolt through the inside portion of the mounting bar. This allowed me to drill over sized holes into the spoiler, and use these extensions as extra reinforcements for the spoiler.

We then filled the back side of the wing with a two part panel bonding agent, and inserted the new mounting bar. We then reinstalled the wing to the car and taped it into position. This will allow the bonding agent to setup.

The next day, we were able to remove the tape, clean everything up and prepare the wing for final sanding and priming. These few pics show the back end of the car almost ready for final sanding and final coat of high build primer before paint.
