History

This is my 1989 Toyota 4Runner. It was neglected by the owners before me. Sometime after I bought it, I was driving it home from work when the engine overheated and blew the cam apart. The temp gauge just shot up and it poped with no warning.

The Factory

1989 Toyota 4Runner DLX, 4-wheel drive, automatic, tow package, black with grey interior, and Limited 4WD side graphics.

The Mods

3in. body lift, 4in. suspension lift, 35x12.5 in. AT tires, powder coated head cover, header cover, radiator, and intake box, black painted dash trim, cut out grill and painted black, but flaking, Sanyo head unit, 5 1/4 sony explode door and rear speakers and relocated rear window and wiper switches.

Coming Soon

New 22RE engine fully rebuilt, all body damage repaired, and maybe a new coat of paint.

This is how the truck looks now, its not really nice but it looks mean...toyotasrock's 1989 Toyota 4Runner

when I would meet another vehicle on a narrow road they would move over.

Great looking Runner. Keep updating your page when you get that new engine in and new pictures. I rated you 5 stars, all the way! Good luck with your truck. Come check out mine, and don't forget to sign my guestbook and rate high.

Not a bad lookin' 4Runner man. From what you said on your site, sounds like the timing chain decided to come loose and tear at the engine. If the inside of the timing chain cover is torn up then the chain guides gave out. Unfortunetly that's one small problem with the 4cyls...timing chain guides are made of plastic. Good luck with it
