The GS 400 goes away, It's replacement was for those who didn't guess right on page 2 a 1988 Jaguar Soveriegn Limited Edition,
a real nice car to drive, good power, super smooth ride unbelievable cornering and most impressive was how quick it would stop. - Then there was the electrical system and repair costs anybody who owns one knows this nightmare and did all my own work.
After a couple of years of shelling way to much cash on the Jag and having a firefly bounce off the back bumper of the Sportwagon my wife wanted a SUV and I had wanted a custom crew cab pickup - so out with the Jag in with the Yukon.
The Yukon was just of lease, it was hard to find one this decked out with cloth seats and a manual transfer case
but I finally did, it has served us well. Its last job was to be hauling the Red Riv home - before being sold, read the Red Rivs pages to see how that worked out -
On the second trip to Mass my friend who went with me just couldn't believe how easy it was on gas (the Yukon has jet chip - he has 94 chevy pickup) I couldn't believe the Rivs gas mileage everything I read says 8-12 mpg, I got 21.5 on the interstates at 55-65 mph, guess gearing means everything.
Well with the two Rivs going into the gararge for winter the Sportwagon being parked and the Yukon being sold
Question is what do I drive when the snow flys - a beater of course.
1987 Olds Delta 88
Bought this because it was dirt cheap The body is solid a the interior was horrible
but we a have parts car with a matching interior left over after fixing the youngest sons olds the first time he smashe it up.
1989 Old Royal Brougham Fe3
Its kind of nice driving around in the sons hand me downs - he buys new tires the old ones go on my car - he buys a new stereo the old one goes in my car (his had a 45 X 4 watt pioneer cd head when he got it but, he wanted more power, its in my olds with the pioneer speakers I bought way back when I had the corolla - still sounds good)- he buys a new alternator I use his old one to repair mine etc etc.
The only thing is his was alot nicer than mine even though it has 100 000 k more on it.
It also had the upgraded suspesion, a few more ponies and all kinds of electronic toys
check my garage I posted a page for his Olds Royal Fe3 take a look its his first car, a graduation present that he smashed about a week later and we rebuilt it, Jan 07 he smashed it for the second time - beyond repair, I now have lots of parts for my beatter Olds. this page includes a bit on what its like to be a car guys kid.
Check - what its like being a car guys kid - on my youngest sons olds page
He learned a lot takes great pride in it and would like to see what you have to say. He is saving for classic just not sure what he really wants - he has layed claim to Red Riv and the sportwagon already but there mine, he'll have to wait awhile before he inherites them.
almost owned this new yorker
put the picture here to show chry 476 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2308022 who has a couple of really nice ones
March 07 update the beatter olds exhaust let loose, and took out a brake line cheap fix since Garretts has new exhaust and brakes just to cold out to take the parts off so I went looking for another beatter - didn't really succeed found this instead, which may be a little to good to drive in the salt and snow
origianl paint no body work a couple minor dents on right front and rear left fenders, only rust is on back bumper
Interior is just as nice some trim pieces need redoing but look at the mileage on it. Wait till I wash it and put up its own page and you see the under side. To bad I have to sacrifice it to the salt and snow gods.
