Here, I'll detail what needs to be done to get some color detail on your doors and dash. If done correctly and with some patience, this cheap mod will look amazing!

Materials Needed (can be bought at local autozone or murray's)
-Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter (1 Can)
-Duplicolor Vinyl Paint (3-4 Cans)
-Common degreaser

To start off, we'll get the doors off and prepped. First, pop off the panel that has the door lock and window switches. Then, remove the screws holding the backing by the handle. Finally, remove the remaining screws holding the panel on the door and life the whole thing up and off. Next, take off all the panels you wish to be painted from the dash.

Now for the paint prepping. Spray all the plastic with the degreaser and rub that sucker real good. Repeat again if it looks real dirty. Then, wait about 15 minutes and take a damp rag and give the plastic another really good rubdown. You want to make sure you get all that degreaser off. I'd do this 2 or 3 times. Then, tape off everything you don't want to get painted (including all the carpeting and stuff on the doors).

Now here's the magic. First, do a light coat of the Adhesion promoter on everything. Wait about 15-20 minutes and spray another light coat. Another 15-20 minutes go by and you're ready for your first coat of paint. Make sure you do everything nice and light coats with about 10-15 minutes between each one. Do as many coats as you want until you get the look you want. I think mine were about 4-5 light coats. I went through 1 can of adhesion promoter and 3 cans of paint doing the doors and dash, but the amount depends on the look you want and how many parts you're painting. Wait about 12-24 hours after the last coat, and you're ready to put them in your car and get that nice pimp look!

very nice car man but i have to ask why you changed your orginal paint color?? did you have door jams, under hood & trunk jams painted also? I noticed that you said you were going to have to paint it over again, was the paint starting to peel or what??? how many miles is on your bird? anyways you've got a nice looking car and the paint change to black really set the wheels off, good luck with your firebird man. check out my bird sometime...
