here is the tailight 'before'. ratty eh? they get swirls and oxidize just like paint does, and as plastics are soft - just like paint - they can be buffed too!
the second shot is a comparison of a before and after

^ first youve got to pull the tailight to bits, and give er a good wash. see how it just doesnt reflect very well?

^ here i am givin it a buff.. i used a Bosch sander with green and white 'Edge' pads, with 'menzerna' polishes (IP and FF)

^after. glossy eh!

^give the chrome a polish too. ultimatley id get it rechromed, but it cleaned up allright. (megs NX metal polish i think it was)

^back together.. looks the goods!

^and both of them done and shiney. beats buying that repro shit.

everyone should have a crack at doing this. no joke, it only took half an hour or so a light, and they look bloody fantastic.

-----------------------------------
as i want to make this car as original as possible, im using an orig GMH bootmat. now THIS is shagged.

^went nuts with it with hot soapy water, and what i reckon is actually a dunny brush!

^then a couple of wipes over with 303 aerospace conditioner (?) looks a helluva lot better, and will look tops in the boot with a nice GTS spare wheel on it ;)

anyway, thats that eh!

Hi Ross! I really enjoyed reading the progress of your project. You are to be congratulated on the result. Lotta work but your Munro is looking absolutely fantastic! I restored a 1976 Torana and I know about the frustrations and costs, but the result, if it has been done right the first time (ie your approach) is a car that you can be very proud of. Keep up the progress pics! Cheers, Ian
