-Addco swaybars installed(www.addco.net)
-2 inch drop springs and new shocks. This is how the car stands right now. I am awaiting some insulation that is coming in the mail, and in the meantime, im going to go to VA and NC for a break from the project. (where i am now) I should be back to work here in about a week or so. Notice my love of safety tape.

Monday-14-July
I forgot to post an update about the STAP trip on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of june. We went to the plant, and the track.

Racing at the Dragstrip

The lineup of our cars at the meet.
Tuesday-24-June
Well, the driveline is almost finished, as all that remains now is installing the mounts and the crossmember... My god...the wiring...it looks like speghetti only...evil speghetti that could wrap its self around you like an alien and kill you. (Ok yes.. i hate the wiring) The pcm is somewhere in limbo, i think the programmer has it right now, but then again, it could be in the mail. We have been running into delays in the past month, but, we will get this thing licked. One of the more interesting things we have done is the pedals. We made a set of manual pedals, pulling from a parts bin of mustang, etc pedals. They are freakin wicked. The car has its new springs ready to go, and the rest will come together soon! Ill keep you posted. Later biaaach!
Tues-13-May
BTW:
If you ask me, I will gladly tell you the things you need to do, that took me months to figure out.
There. On a lighter note, i am within a month of finishing the install. The exhaust manifolds clear. This is the most involved part of the swap...and Im about to tear into it. Wish me luck, and Ill say goodbye for right now...when I come back...It WILL have a v10 in operation ... under the hood.
-added-

=)

Here is a v10 intake i found off of an NPI engine in the junkyard. I feel that with some sandblasting, and honing, that it will provide more torque than the plastic/silver painted one you see in the background.

Ahh yes, another junkyard part. A 90mm MAF, cast aluminum. Nice and pretty eh??

My Centerforce Dual Friction 10' and flywheel. Im using a Cobra Flywheel because it is an 8 bolt, just like the v10.

OMG The wires! God save me!
TUES-29-APRIL
I felt it was time for some more pics, so here your go.

This last image is kindof funny. I got bored one day that i was making no progress, and decided to take this picture. To give you a scale size of the engine, i am 5'10 185, and that is a full size DOT helmet! now look at this engine. lol...
The car is non-operational, with the v10 being installed as we speak. Ok, well not as we speak, but im working on it. Should be in by the end of the week. Then its time to do more wiring! Yay! (sarcasm intended)
WED 16-April (part 2)
Ok- I bought some addco swaybars today to improve handling, and Time is running out... i need to have this thing ready to go so i can take it to the June 14th car meet at the ST. Thomas auto plant in canada. I spent yesterday in the shop working with Ed on building the seats to fit the vic just right. We did a ton of welding and cutting with the plasma torch, and eventually came up with something good. I also installed the Alpine CD-xxxx headunit (45*4) and a special RCA IN adaptor for the DIN plug on the back so i could hook it to my laptop in the vehicle and hear the GPS system give me directions over my stereo speakers. It can also play the mp3s i have and cds for me, and burn CD's off of the radio. The GPS system is a really cheap one... a NAVman E-series...i need to get some new software for it because the stuff that comes with it SUCKS!!! (but hey, the total package was only 130 dollars!). The new 02 sensors are on the way. (i guess that can come another day). I tried to get www.wheelreplicas.com to sponsor me but they dont really care, so ill just save my money for some wheels and buy them somewhere else! hmm...Oh yeah- i need to buy some mufflers- but i think im going to have to use the Tiny 2.25 inch dual/xpipe setup for now. I want dual 3's with high flow cats and a dr gass x and spintechs...but i cant afford it.
What kind of shift knob should i get?
1. Shiney Round Chrome
2. Skull
3. Black Carbon fiber
4. Black leather
5. ???
Leave your opinion in the guestbook please! Thanks for reading the update!
WED 16-April
I cannot post lots of info right now, as i am at the office. I took back the TKO and purchased a Liberty Prepped Tremmec TR-3550 5 Speed, Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, Lakewood safety bellhousing, clutch arm & clutch arm pivot. I still need to get the quadrant and the cable. I ran into a problem with the pedals but i fixed it (they were slightly bent) I gotta go...but ill update you in a couple hours!! AGH here is the boss! GTG
SAT 22-MAR
I purchased a tremec tko and mustang pedals and a shifter, a really good clutch, and a mustang linkage. I dont know if the pedal-clutch linkage from a mustang will work, but ill see. I bought 2 ugly ass sport seats from some little car at the junkyard today and i took them to Ed's shop to have them re-covered in dark blue and black tweed and have extra padding put in (more bolstering) anyways-im out... ive got things to do! Wiring to take care of! Later all! Now that i have the money-i hope i can get this thing done for summer so i can take it to the beach! hell yah! (*side note-i wont have any a/c...so maybe i should visit canada instead hehehee)
Friday 21-mar
TUE 25-Feb
Im stressin...but this project WILL not stop until it is done!!!
WED 12-Feb
Project Still at a halt due to financial reasons...my current part time job isnt giving me the hours i need. People have told me that its not possible...and that this swap is just to difficult...but i see them just as people who stand in the way, and only cause me to be more enthusiastic about doing this. I think i will be ordering a set of custom machined cams from australia (Crow cams), designed with my lift, duration (ect) specs. It will cost 1500 dollars for a set. If i dont watch out...im going to end up going crazy with this engine and throwing a set of titanium rods and pistons in, and cryo tempering the whole thing...its just like some people do with their houses...customizing them to their specs...big tvs, new counters, ect... well i put my emphasis on my car.
-Mon 27 Jan
Last night i got home from DC/Baltimore.
25? Jan-
Preparing exhaust system for v10 install. Had X-Crossover installed. Painted Grille so that it is Again-gloss black, not flat black like a 2000 grille. I found out i liked the gloss look. Sylvania Silverstar (4050 deg K light out put)headlight bulbs installed ($54) and lens polished by me. Headlight output is GREATLY improved. Measured Exhaust manifolds, and i dont have to modify them... good.. another cash savings right there.
Tuesday 7 Jan, 10:03pm
Just finished my taillights, and rear fascia.

Saturday 5 Jan, 12:26am
Today i installed 4 6*8 Pioneer speakers in my car, but i still have the stock head unit, which i need to swap out.
Thursday 26 DEC, 1:25am
Well, as you can tell im a night person, so...
I am repainting the wheels on my car one wheel at a time, replacing the wheel with the spare so i can keep going to work. I am also working on a custom grille with dual ram air. Check out my newly painted chemical resisting wheels and fat Potenza RE910's!

-note...getting fiberglass resin on your shirt will make it harden and annoy you... also... fiberglass turns into spiderwebs on the edges and tangles you while you try to lay it... i hate the stuff already...damn im itchy now.
Saturday 14 DEC

Check it out! The clearcoat i sprayed looks great! this is 1 coat, im going to do 3, so its going to look great! The paint color i was going for was a light titanium metallic, so i think i am pretty close to what i planned.
Friday 13 DEC
Its 4:11 AM. Ive been up all night. Looks like i havent shaved in days, but i did about 12 hours ago. Im sitting here on my computer... im hungry... im tired (as always)... i have 4 tests and 2 exams today... bleary eyed...I look for 7.5 Inch connecting rods on the internet. 7.5 inch connecting rods will put my crankshaft stroke vs my rod length at an optimal 1.80 for my application. Do you know how LONG a 7.5 inch rod is?!!??! I might give up and just keep my stock ratio of 1.507. I need to study for this damn economics BS that ive got till midnight tonight to finish. School and cold weather coupled with buying christmas prezies has slowed this project to a neer standstill. The good news? My paint has had time to cure on my engine parts. Damn im sleepy... im going to go to bed now...oh yeah wait... i contacted CROW cams in Australia, which seem to be the only contact i have with anyone who can make a custom V10 cam. We will see about this tommorow. The strange thing is, when i go cruising the 'vards, people sometimes follow me into parking lots and ask me about my car. huh...i thought my car was a sleeper... going to have to tone down the exhaust a little. The v10 Isnt going to be happy though... breathing through anything less than 3' duals with an x pipe. Wiring harness difficulties are all but solved on paper now. Need to get ahold of a v10 excursion engine wiring harness. Cheap. If anyone has one they would like to donate, ill mention your name or something when i get done with this car, or let you drive it or something.
Thanksgiving!!! (24 NOV)

Well, im bored, and hungry waiting for this turkey to fry! I took some pictures. Last night i went to the (st/d)ealership to purchase the special lug nuts to hold on my centercaps. They quoted me $4.86 PER LUGNUT! talk about outragous! i needed 20 lug nuts...ok I knew the invoice was $2.11 per and NOT any four dollars and eighty six cents! Out of need, i negotiated them down to 60 bucks for the whole set. I felt robbed. The centercaps i got a good deal on, i got a set of 5 for 60 bucks shipped to my door. I think they look better than the full wheel covers, and they dont fall off.
MON 18 NOV (9:40pm)
Well here is a pic of the intake

MON 18 NOV
I stripped off the grease on the outside of the throttle body and intake runners, and lo and behold my solvent ate away the mirror finish on the inside (note...wear gloves with hardcore solvents...they will HURT like SHIZZOT if you get them on your hands)! GRRR ive got to re-polish it. The block is black, and everything else is silver clearcoat. Lets see how much it costs to port the heads on a v10...
WED 13 NOV
Last night i dissassembled the throttle body on the v10. I was discusted by all the grime on the inside! I then took the device that holds the twin butterflies out and ground it into a more aerodynamic shape, and knife edged and mirror polished the butterflies. Tommorow i plan on grinding down the throttle body for better through-flow. And then mirror polishing it also. (The outside probably will not be polished, because that wont add any performance)Im going to break this page up pretty soon to reduce load times...sorry guys!
WED 06 NOV
Well, the V10 is finally here. Its a 6.8L (414 Cubic inch) Triton V10 with a build date of 12-MAR-99 (PI). It would be installed in a 2000 Ford F250/350 or Econoline van. It produces 310hp and 425?ft/lbs of torque @ 2400rpm in stock N/A form. I am now going to start work on the disassembly of the engine and porting the heads. I need to do a few things.
Im going to trim back the fan shroud on the car, and some other things that i have yet to discover to get room for the v10. Length is not a problem, only height. I do not want to buy a new hood, but i might. I dont know if the stock headers are going to fit, so we will see.
The electronic engine control is going to be a problem for me. Sure, get a v10 wiring harness you say.. what about the speedometer, ect that have to hook up to it? Im working on this problem and ill crack it eventually.
--> here is the engine
As you see, it has pretty beefy intake runners. Check PAGE 2 of this website for more info on the v10 and install. This page is getting wayyy to long.

MON 21 OCT
I just got back from the track (spend Friday the 18th-Sunday the 20th of october) in Englishtown New Jersey (raceway park). Me and fellow members from www.Crownvic.net participated in the Fox body mustang cruise which we were allowed to join due to the fact that Jeff (speedycop-the guy with the 12 second 98' crown vic) had connections with MM&FF magazine! We did that, and later in the day it became humid, sprinkled a little, with headwinds gusting to 45mph and remaining at a steady 35mph, i ran a 15.88 at 89mph.

We were a select few that got these cool licenseplates from the magazine!!!!

There is me in my car. Taking the headlight out creates a ram air duct right into the headlight. Pretty cool huh?
Read Muscle mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine in about 3 months or so from October to check us out!
FRI 18 OCT
Put new tires on the car for the Muscle Mustangs and Fast fords drag meet. I tried to get 255s on the back but the idiot tire store refused...i was in a bind because i had to leave for new jersey from virginia today!!! I was forced to go with only a 245 tire, but its a potenza high series so its great traction. I put on lighter, and narrower tires on the front for less rolling resistance and weight, also potenzas but 215 on the front this time. Id like to get ahold of a set of weld or draglight wheels to lighten up things a bit... the steel wheels weigh 34 LBS a peice without the tire... about 54 with tires. Talk about heavy...
MODS:
Well, the first thing i did was get rid of the granny chrome in the back that denotes the 1999 from the 2000+ cars.

I did that and then tinted the yellow turnsignals darker, so they look something like the all red taillights you see on the 2000+ model interceptors and the Mercury Marauder (which have TINTED all red taillights). I am debating swapping in a marauder rear facia and taillights (all tinted), or coating them with a little nightshades spray tint.

I knew that stock police antenna and blue ribbon thing had to go, so we took care of that. I now only use the antenna on the interstate to talk to truckers and find out where all the hot girls are. (hey im 19!!)
After i got done with painting the chrome on the car, i decided the chrome window surrounds had to go to, so i got ahold of some 3m vynl black matte tape and using a precision known only to a penguin trying to play x-box, i cut out the tape in the exact shape of the trim.

I then saved money and next week i took it down to the tire store to throw on some fatter, more grippy tires. The stock tires are (Goodyear RSA 225/60/16) and i installed (235/55/16s) in a high performance flavor of tire. This combined with the stock police interceptor super stiff springs and swaybars, gave me GREAT cornering, like my camaro but not quite like the M roadster my dad has.

So i worked and saved a little more money and 2 weeks later I had the exhaust done! The stock crown vic police interceptor exhaust system gets REALLY small in some places... 1 3/4 inch! LOL... i knew this had to go.
I had 2.25 inch pipe run dual from the cats back, with glasspacks installed before the rear axel. I then finished it off with 2 - 2.5 inch 45angle tips. Im thinking about going for 3' tips.
Notice the 'bangin Aluminum Metal Matrix Driveshaft!

I saved a little more.
then i took my car down to another shop and had an intake welded up with a k&n filter (i know what you are thinking... hot air right!)

well i solved that problem. (dont laugh. i know it looks ghetto, but it works like hell!)

I was experiening surge and sluggishness in my acceleration due to the extreme hot air i was intaking, and the fact that the air intake tube was being heated up to like 300 degrees (it goes above the ex. manifolds which radiate heat like a mofo) I bought some silver insulation and insulated the whole setup. I then built a new airbox for the KN setup and cut out an intake under the bumper which feeds cold air right the the airbox assembly. The throttle body is now nolonger even WARM to the touch. I cant wait for winter to roll around, because im gonna have alot more performance.

My driveway, 2500rpm launch, never letting off throttle. Interceptors have traction problems. I must fix this somehow.

Here is the trunk, for putting all the dead bodies mobsters and cops hide in these things. Just think! Mine was the last year without a glow-in-the-dark trunk opener on the inside! muahahahah you cant get out. Just kidding people!

The back seat of the pimperceptor! Easy to clean rubber floors and vynl seating! heheheheh. Comes in handy when everyone is drunk and i am the DD...I am usually the DD. to bad the back doors are always locked for the back passengers, but they like feeling important when the driver gets out and opens the door.
Here is my tachometer that is right next to the spotlight handle

Now you can see from the cop's point of view! Sucks dont it! Notice the steering wheel. (look like someone has been chewing on it?) alot of crown vics have this problem... just cant stop it. I guess im gonna have to save more friggin money and swap wheels

-NOTE- I dont plan on installing the following because of the V10 Install. The V10 already has PI HEADS-
I plan installing a set of ford PI (performance improved) heads (after porting and polishing of course!) on my p71 when i save the money. This could raise issues of detonation, as the compression ratio will be much higher than even a PI headed engine, BUT it will add 52 hp or so.
I dont have a pic, but the 1-2 shift accumulator spring is removed, so this bad boy bangs out shifts from 1-2 with a satisfying chirp, and a scraalll and smoke from the tire (whiplash!) if you WOT it through the 1-2 change. The car currently runs 3.55 gears (stock 99 the only year that got) and im thinking of changing to 4.10.
As far as performance chips go, i would probably go with injectec or Jerry. I hear Jerrychips are the best made for 4.6s. Possibly even a jerrytune?

I also am interested in window tinting and getting a set of 18' wheels. (nothing bling blingin, but something performance like 5spoke chrome saleen wheels)
