INTRODUCTION
This is my 1987 Dodge Shelby Z. It has the 2.2l turbocharged, intercooled engine. I originally had an 87 Daytona Pacifica that got pretty rusty from sitting outside one winter waiting for an engine rebuild. I decided to look around for another car since it would require some major rust repair. I found this Shelby Z about 200 miles away, no rust, and plenty of mods.
It also had the a555 with Getrag gears so that was also a plus since I would have to buy a $400 torque converter anyway for that other car. I bought the car with rod knock(since I had another engine) and 3" exhaust. After tearing it down I found that it also had a 2.5" Turbonetics swingvalve, Dynomax muffler, front polymount and it had been painted recently.
Here we are getting it on the trailer:
The engine was an 86 block, bored .040 over, Clevite pistons, new TII rods, the 86 cast crank, we grooved the heads, ported/coated the exhaust manifold, and made a custom 3" swingvalve. Notice the 2-Piece intake :D
