03 Aug 07 -----The Engine is all painted and back together -- final check and startup
rchayes's 1971 Buick RivieraBefore putting the Red Riv back down on the ground Lowrider came out to make sure everything was hooked up (always good idea to have someone take a look after having things apart)rchayes's 1971 Buick Rivierarchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
the suspension passed his inital inspection, after a quick look high and low around the engine Lowrider picked up that the brake booster vacuum wasnt connected " whats the point of that work if you gonna drive it thru the side of the garage" pretty smart mouth for car hound, he then cleared us to put the Red Riv down on the ground.rchayes's 1971 Buick Rivierarchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera

Once down he checked around some more

When done as he jumped in, he yelled "lets fire this puppy up and go for ride Ive been penned up like a beagle to long"

rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera

Fired the good ol 455
- took three priming tries and away she went, only problem was the new fan belt sqealled until it ate its self and the chock and secondaries wernt cutting in right.
Once running a bit did some tweeking on the carb and things were running smooth, the exhaust manifold coating was starting to burn off, the fan belt let loose.

Let things cool and waited for the smoke to clear a bit then put the old fan belt back on.
after which she ran and reved like she should "I feel good"

rchayes's 1971 Buick RivieraAfter the red Riv was back inside Lowrider looked around for leaks found none but noticed few things he just had to comment on, first comment was "Ya you got the trunk lined up all nice and pretty but wheres me package tray , how we supposed to cruise like this, Im not a happy puppy"
"Hey the jack sticker is upside down, they all like that you gonna put the new one that way- you gotta thats the how it was built."rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera"Whats this new shinny thing it wasnt there before.
"I like it, I can see myself on both sides"rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera" I like this way, you need more people space just throw blanket here, turn on the tunes and lets go cruzin"

After listening to him whine about being couped up and wanting to go cruzin I took him for ride in the little buickrchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
But that didnt keep him quite very long.
First it was "I cant see from here, are we there yet"rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera"Why cant I ride up here, I can see great, the wind blows thru my hair, and the jewelery matches mine."

rchayes's 1971 Buick RivieraWhen we got back the first thing he does is jump up here and go on about "when we gonna take this one for a spin." good thing he's such a great guard dog Or else.................................

06 Aug 07 Haven't gotten to much done the last couple of days, mostly because Lowrider has been bugging me to go cruizin. Did get the hinges and brake booster re plated, air cleaner and wiper motor cleaned up repainted(have to do over the aircleaner dont like the way it came out) still have to put it all back on then ill add the pictures- The Red Riv is scheduled to head off for stripping this week, but their behind so there might be a delay.
.
.
Finally got so tired of Lowriders constant whinning and howling to cruise I offered to take him for ride in the 5th Ave
- Here was his responserchayes's 1971 Buick Rivierarchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera"Aint riding in no Chrysler, no not no way"

rchayes's 1971 Buick Rivierarchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera"Come on lets take the little Buick"

rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera" No, wait, wait a minute, I wanna go cruisin in the Red Riv"
It took us over an hour to get him off the garage door - For a mechanical dog, hes pretty stubborn and likes to go fast with class -- me too.rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera

After some munchies and hanging out with the boys for bitrchayes's 1971 Buick Rivierarchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera
He finally setteled down in his favourite spot - close to the indoor Buicks.

Thanks alot for checking out my Ciera coupe and Pacers! Yes, ABSOLUTELY PARTY ON! Your Riv is SWEET! Miss mine, though sadly it was not a Boat tail Riv. I had two and 84 that same color and a 96! Both great cars, so I am sure yours is as well! %8s All the way!
