Did you know:    The 1971 Riviera by Buick

wasn't based on a concept, but

A concept car was actually built from the production 71 Rivier a

Notice how the Vintage Red changes with the light conditions,

these pics where taken at about the same time.

Video and slideshows of the redo and some other Nova Scotia Classics cruising and Boattail Rivieras of course

Some people will tell you these 4500lb Buicks arn't muscle cars check the above you-tube videos -
scroll over for test/acceleration runs

1971 riviera 0-30 mph = 3.4sec   0-45mph = 5.2sec   0-60 = 8.5sec

My wife let me get this beauty from the original owner for

my retirement/24th anniversary present. rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera

Its was all original except for a repaint in the late 70's and had 58800 miles on it, and a bunch of not very common options its not a GS but has the F40 "firm ride and handling- heavy duty suspension" (I'm pretty sure this is the same as a GS) four speaker am/fm stereo, four tone horn, console, strato buckets with all the extra mouldings, speed alert, cornering lights, original floor matts, etc check the original window sticker its all stiil there except 2 stripe tires, orignal bill of sale, protect a plate, owners manual etc were with her , it really di d come with everything I found a pipe holder under the drivers seat and 1971 trojans under the passenger seat(hows that for fully equipped), all that is missing is an 71 Buick and Riviera only sales brochure.

rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera This is most often veiwed side, she rides just the same at 60 mph as she does at 90 mph (two fingers on the wheel, straight as arrow and smoother than silk)

Best side - with the 455 in front,

rchayes's 1971 Buick Riviera

She came with a trunk full of extras spare trim, rims, trims caps, new factory weather stripping, muffler, R-12 for the A/C which still works and lots more

Drove down in the Yukon via the CAT, found just what I was looking for and in better shape than I was expecting for a pretty good price, of course I bought her, and made a new friend in the orginal owner

thanks for taking such great care of her for so many years Ray

Thanks alot for checking out my Ciera coupe and Pacers! Yes, ABSOLUTELY PARTY ON! Your Riv is SWEET! Miss mine, though sadly it was not a Boat tail Riv. I had two and 84 that same color and a 96! Both great cars, so I am sure yours is as well! %8s All the way!
