This is my 1974 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus at BIR in 2003, and this is her CarDomain page.
A little about the car, she's all-original and is equipped with a 400 big block (with a Holley 750 not stock), Torqueflite 727, and 3.23 Suregrip rearend. She came from the factory with the Magnum 500's, and slotted exhaust tips which were on the car when I got it (they're mostly rusted out and corroded now, but I still have 'em). She's more or less a Road Runner but without the striping, badging, and bulge hood. Every '73 or '74 Road Runner I've seen has had the 318 motor, if you have a Runner or even a Satellite with a 400 (I've found them to be quite rare) please sign my guestbook and let me know. Other options which I believe were quite rare for '74, on any car, are A/C (which alas no longer blows cold) and cruise control.
Odds & ends: I have the original broadcast sheets which I found under the back seat, and I've collected different memorabilia over the years such as an original marketing catalog that has a green Satellite on the cover. I even still have the newspaper ad from which I found it for sale!
I bought the car in '92 in Wahpeton, ND the Summer after I graduated from high school, from a guy named Brad Glarum (I think he was kinda forced to sell it for financial reasons - Brad, if you happen to run across this page, yup I still have her and I've taken good care of her), with about 67K on the odometer... it now reads 125,XXX miles. I'm the 3rd owner. What Brad had told me about the 1st owner, that I remember anyway, is that he had gone into the armed forces (not sure which branch) a relatively short time after buying it new, and so wasn't able to drive it much the first several years of its life. Not sure when Brad had bought it, but how it started out its life I'm sure has a lot to do with only having 67K on the clock in '92.
I'm not materialistic, but the car means a lot to me, as much as any "possession" can. Through countless trips between my hometown & college, a trip to Idaho and back, drag racing her a few times at Interstate Dragways (Sabin, MN), job changes and relocation, marriage, divorce, and moving about a dozen times over the years, she's been with me through thick and thin. She shows her age more all the time (kinda like me!) but still runs strong. What I think is an interesting tidbit: I was born in September '73 and the car was manufactured in October '73 - we both just had our 33rd birthday! LOL
I know the pics on here so far are not very good, I plan on putting more on later but I currently don't have a digital camera. In the meantime if anyone's interested in contacting me and you're familiar with MySpace, I check my MySpace account regularly, I'm at /glovesofmetal
Thanks for checkin out my Satellite's page - MOPAR or no car!
