The Present:
I think that all the Firenzas on Car Domain have a 2.0L so I am here to represent the equally worthless 1.8L overhead cam engine. At one time this car was going to get a 2.8L from a Cavalier but I decided against it. Instead it got another 1.8L and a 5 year exile. It's on the road again now, but she's had an unsettling past. I know you're wondering, so here it goes...
The Past:
I bought the car for $40, yes $40 on it's way to the junkyard in 2000. Had a bad cam and lot's of rust but I had never seen one like it and that was enough for me. After a long and grueling quest for a parts car I found an '86 Z24 Cavalier. The Firenza got it's doors, ground effects and wheels (14"!) from this car. The Olds front end was slightly damaged so I used that as an excuse to replace it with the somewhat more handsome Sunbird front end. The Firebird steering wheel was just because I liked it. The New Holland yellow is just because it's what was available.

The Future:
On it's way is the stereo, a fiberglass speaker enclosure made to fit in the back, a rear window louvers from an '82 Datsun 200SX, and a spoiler from an '86 Chrysler Laser. I swore an oath that I would NEVER change a motor in a FWD again, so eventually I'd like to shorten up a Monte Carlo frame or something and set this body on it. Then I can use a small block Chevy like it should have had in the first place. With a V-8 I can call it a Sunzalier GT. I've done some preliminary measuring and it's definitely possible...
UPDATE
I was recently graced with a comment to my personal guestbook from one of the Cardomain intellectual elite, jbhicks! Thank you Mr. Hicks for your thought provoking insight... I'm sure I speak for most of the civilized world when I say "?". Without further ado, I give you jbhicks69, one of the great thinkers of our time...

Perhaps the poor fellow wasn't blessed with hands and is all the better he can type. If this is the case, Mr. Hicks, my heart goes out to you. Don't let anyone tell you that you have a handicap. If you put your mind to it, anything is possible! Work hard, and someday you might get those hand transplants you've been waiting for.
This brings us to my convoluted point ladies and gentlemen, if you are not currently an organ donor please reconsider. You, yes you, could change someone's life for the better.
