For some reason, it was decided to start from the back and work towards the front of the car. The bottom of the firewall and the two box sections that cover the trunk are the main areas of contention.
The problem was that someone else had been here before the invention of the MIG welder. Everyting was brazed and/or cut with a torch.
Due to this beautiful piece of craftmanship, it was decided to build a new spring cover box.
First make a template:I finally found a use for those fliers that are tossed into your car at car shows!
Then, cut and fold along the lines. It is important to think ahead for all the folds and tabs. You can see the repair piece along the bottom of the firewall. Once the old piece was cut off straight, it was an easy piece to make and install.
I have not told the owner that I also want to do the passenger side spring box. It is a bit more involved and he wants to do a repair.
