I am doing a 2.9 to 4.0 swap! The engine is coming from an 98 Explorer Sport. I need to find a transmission though. I need a 4x4 5R55E, it comes in all 98 and up automatic Explorers, Rangers, Mountaineers, etc. All of the parts on the 2.9 liter engine that have been modified will end up going onto my Bronco II.

Here is the 4.0 engine that is ready to go into my Ranger.

Ya that was my plan too. Put the body lift in while i do the mounts, would save me doing all the work later. Another idea i had for mine was finding a newer cab and putting it on, cuz my floor has been patched b4 and i dont really like that idea but we'll see what happens.

Looks like a good start.. The money adds up fast doesn't it? I just finished a 4.0L OHV swap.. The SOHC swap is a lot of work, you'll need basically everything from the donor truck (even steering column). Check out my Ranger and tell me what ya think.
