Our group lost a great friend and founding member of Michiana Jeep Club, Larry Carroll (Lar) He lost his battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed. He was always the first to volunteer, and always willing to help out. Lar never missed an event untill he became too ill to attend. Lar god bless you and your family, we are all better for having the opportunity to know you. I will miss you my friend

LARRY L. CARROLL
Sept. 5, 1938 - May 31, 2008
UNION, Mich. -- Larry Leighton Carroll, 69, died at 8 a.m. Saturday (May 31, 2008) at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Carroll was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Plainwell, Mich., to Frederick L. and Virginia E. (Leighton) Carroll. He married Jeanette L. Gates on Nov. 8, 1975, in Ypsilanti, Mich.
She survives, along with four sons, Kevin (Elizabeth) Carroll of Brooklyn, Mich., Todd (Luanne) Carroll of Saline, Mich., Benjamin (Leisa) Carroll of Union and Shaun (Carolyn Ciresi) Carroll of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; one brother, Bruce (Brenda) Carroll of Allegan, Mich.; and one sister, Kathleen (John) Rybak of Burnsville, Minn.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Speckman officiating. Burial will be in Union, Mich.
Mr. Carroll was a certified public accountant, a firefighter and EMT with Porter Township Fire Dept. and EMS, and served as the former Porter Township supervisor. He was a member of the Michiana Jeep Club.
Memorials may be given to the Porter Township Fire Departmen.
