When I first bought the car!!

supafastprobe's 1995 Ford Probe

Hey Everyone, this pic above is my PSE the day I got it, I got the car in 2003 and pretty much babied it. Now over the past years I have been really playing with it.

when I got things situated I really started upgrading my probe, at first it was the typical bolt ons, running all motor, then I bought a Supercharger kit, after waiting a year to get it i finally installed it after waiting for more parts the car is now Running Great!!!

11/9/2008

Well the Roof is black, I was told its called the "Panda look" it turned out ok, nothing else been going on witht the probe its getting colder here, I did get in my EDIS stuff, so once I get the overdrive pulley with the teeth, I will be set, I need to design and build some brackets to hold the edis stuff in place, and get some shilded wires!!

11/20/2008 Turns out that the 2000 mazda 626 has the coil-pack, along with a stock bracket, I found one at the local junk yard, I got the bracket another coil pack and a crank position sensor, and it will all bolt up to my engine. I now have to figure out how to seal the hole the distrubotor goes in. currently I need to get the car to Idle better, richen up my fuel table and street tune again. it turns out I was running my car with the cam timing way off. I got that fix and the car revs and sound so much meaner. its cold and kind of lost motivation....

1/26/2009 ah an update can you beleive it!?!? well I suck I have not done either of my projects A or B for this period of inactivity. my car was sleeping in the garage while we where plummled with snow, 5 feet of snow in 36 hours is killer!!! well now its all melted away, I did drive my car once around the block to get it warmed up, it was fun!! but it is leaking oil, so I have to replace the crank seal. not to worry I have the part in hand. so I have finally gotten fed up with trying to find somebody to make me this overdrive pulley so I am going at it myself so I have smoothed down a hub and I have made a tool to make the groves of the pulley, so I must begin machining!!! here is a picture of what I have done so far, once I get this done, I will install it on the car aswell as the crank seal, thanks to all who bother to read this!!!

2/26/2009 lets see, got the overdrive pulley installed and it works great, just not seeing full boost as I can not go past 4000rpms due to the tune. working on that hence the MS screen shots below, I thought it was the plug gap, but they were already set at the appropriate .028. while I installed the new crank pully I reaplaced the main oil seal, but it still leaks oil... I also noticed to my disappointment the block casting to mount the crank position sensor was not on my block :) so I can't go EDIS, without changing my block or making some modifications to the current one. so overall I am dissapointed for now. I am hoping to get this tune figured out so a WOT pull will Motivate me again!!!!

3/16/09 well I could not get the tune right windband reading 20.1, and I change the spark plugs to a copper core, no change. to boot, oil was leaking/spraying everywhere scraching my head a pt member suggested a compression check, so I thought why not. I did this and found out cylinder 2 only held 90psi, instead of 160 like the others!!! I put oil in it to see if it was my rings, but it held 90psi. I also check the timing and it was bouncing around 4 degrees higher then what MS reads. GRRR. so I took the cylinder head off and took it to a guy, he cleaned it up and check things out, he said that they held good vacuum, but he wants to change the valve seals, after discussion we are thinking the springs might be taking a huge beating from the .351 lift cams. this means the springs don't close the valves in time so far I have ordered new springs, a head gasket kit, arp head studs and an oil catch can, I think I will have the mechanic port match things for me too.

so hopefully this will get done within the next week. this head work I am hoping will resolve the missing boost and oil spray. Then I can begind the fight with timeing, tuning and windband reading 20.1 at 4000rpms. I am aslo thinging of hooking up the PCV system to the oil catch can, then routing some lines to the intake of the supercharger, so the pvc system will work like normal again.

3/24/2008 I will be getting the rebuilt head tomorrow, with new valve seals, new ebaich springs, and a port match!! he took off an 1/8th inch circumference, this will help flow the head!!! the intake manifold and the valve cover will be bead blasted, too. I will be taking this opertunity to get ride of all the extra vacuum lines and silinoids that hide under the intake manifold, and clean things up with a vacuum block. Update, I have the parts oh so pretty pics will be up soon

4/9/2009. Well I got it all back togethor!!! I got the timing set, Oil main seal sealed, oil catch can fixed, temporary oil cap so it will stop spraying oil. it was so great, I took it for a drive without boost to get all the seals set, and wow, you can definitly feel the difference with the open head, the next day I did boost, WOWZERS it boosted great and pulled right past 4000rpms!!! I love this rebuilt head!!! the great thing was I did all this at only 4.9psi, next is to put the bigger pulley back on to get 9psi hopefully and check for boost leaks!! I orderd some stonger motor mounts, I need to get the valve cover either powdercoated again or spray painted, not sure what color I want, maybe PC chrome agian.

6/2/2009 yeah its been a while, and its been a headache. so number 2 piston still had low compression 90psi vs 140psi and the rear main seal was an oil sprinkler. I Sorced out another motor and did my first motor swap, that was an experince. so now that was done to fix a leak and low compression, with the swap I found out that my passenger side strut was blown, how, I don't know. that will be sent away, still air in my coolent, and the ac is screaming. oh and to boot the front main seal is leaking on this motor!! if you remember I had replaced that already on the old motor.... so I need to replace that and do fix the others and time the motor. on side notes, I would like to get MS to run fan control. and get MS to do my water injection cause that still causes 20.1afr but I have not tried it on my new to me motor, also thinking about running an intercooler or charge cooler. and maybe switching to a cheap turbo setup or twin charged, just more money... I also bought a house so I am working on that too. I really wanted to drive the car this summer and it looks like its going to fight me tell the end. anyway here are some pics

That ride is tight man! I am having a fuel or compression problem with my probe right now. I am not sure exactly what it is but when it warms up it runs like crap! 2nd and 3rd gear I can't get under, if i give it too much gas it acts like it wants to die!If you got any leftover parts or ideas let me know!
