This is my 1985 Monte Carlo SS. I bought her in 2002 when she was stock (other than a shift kit, crappy sterio, and a flaking paint job)

Since then, I have removed the entire drivetrain (one component at a time) and replaced it with:

A 350 cid GM Performance Parts factory crate motor
-Crane cam, .454" / .440" lift, 265* adv duration, 114* Lobe seperation angle
-Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
-Edelbrock Performer 600cfm carburetor with spectre throttle bracket
-Edelbrock TES 1 5/8" emissions legal headers (Soon to be replaced by hedmen full length, ceramic coated headers)
-Edelbrock Elite series, tall valve covers
-Trans Dapt 14" open element air filter
-Russel braided fuel line
-Stock replacement water pump, fuel pump, alternator, power steering pump, and removed the air pump and all associated hoses and check valves

Behind the engine, resides a 1993 Corvette ZF 6 Speed
-Corvette LT1 starter for the custom McLeod 153 tooth flywheel
-Centerforce Dual Friction clutch for a 1993 Corvette
-1991 S10 clutch master cylinder (new) and hydraulic hard and soft line
-'Vette slave cylinder
-Custom fabricated driveshaft from R&S springs with heavy duty U-joints
-Slightly modified stock crossmember (soon to be significantly modified for true dual exhaust)
-Clutch and brake pedals from a 1978 El Camino, custom fabricated mounting hardware and master cylinder pushrod engaugement thanks to OPG whom messed up my order and overcharged me.

Putting the power to the ground is a built 8.5" Gran National rear end, built by John B.
-4.10 Gears
-New posi clutches
-Hardened Moser axles
-BMR lower control arm relocation brackets (improves the instant center for lowered cars

The suspension is lowered about 4" with springs and spindles, damped by Tokiko gas charged shocks.

Tucked away in the front fenders are a pair of 17 X 8" forged billet wheels wrapped in 235/45/17 BF Goodrich KDW tires.

The rears are 17 X 9.5" wrapped in 275/40/17 BF Goodrich G-Force Traction TA's (I bought the rears used before I bought the fronts, and KDW's are the closest tires to the TA's that BFG offers)

Inside, to keep the 6 speed shifter cozy, is a custom fabricated center console with a storage compartment and 3, 2 and 1/16" gauges - Vacuum, Oil Pressure, and Water Temperature. I have an air fuel gauge that will go in somewhere as well, but I need to figure out a location to mount it.

The body sports a 4" Harwood Outlaw Z cowl hood and Dupont paint covered in 5 coats of PPG clear with some violet candy in the first 2 coats. The antenna was shaved and several rust spots, dents, and waves were fixed.

The car has gone 14.4 @ 102mph at the dragstrip, with the stock 3.73 open rear and a 2.2 60'. I have not taken her back to the strip yet to see how she does with the new mods, but I would expect a mid 13 as she sits.

Instead, I have been attending auto cross events. She made her first appearance in November of 2006 and finished about half way through the pack. Considering that was the first road race/auto cross even that I ever raced (I watched one before) I feel that this is a pretty good finish. My car weighs roughly 3700lbs with myself and a half tank of gas. You always autocross on a full tank to minimize sloshing and possibly drying out the fuel pickup. The rest of the field was primarily cars that weighed in the neighborhood of 3000lbs and less. I'll definately be back next year with a few more mods and maybe surprise a few people.

I love the stance of this car! Looks way better than a set of GINORMOUS wheels under a lifted monte. (No offense to anyone with a monte on ginormous wheels!) 5 stars for the work bro
