Just started working on a engine for my g/f's future car.
Picked it up, a 95 SL2, needs work though........perfect car for me to start on.

Already got a set of rims, Stock sawtooth rims, nice and light, with Bridgestone potenza tires, needs to be re-finished though.

Here's the build-up that I am doing for her engine.
Starting with a 92 head, with flat valves, doing some porting and polishing, lapping the valves, painting the head, and bolting it back together.
Here's the pics of the progress

Sorry I didn't get any finished pictures of the head, but I have a couple of the valve cover. I shaved off the sature logo, and painted it with the accent colour that my g/f wants on her car. I used VHT caliper paint todo the valve cover, heck if it can take the heat and crap for a caliper, it will work on a valve cover.

Now for some interior parts, I found a black interior saturn in the wrecker, and removed all the parts that were fully black. For the other parts I painted them with Dupicolour vinyl and fabric paint. The inserts I covered with red crushed velvet.

Started installing the door panels and the interior. Got the carpet dyed as well.

As well as the some of the stereo buildup and rear window mounted 12" sub. Just waiting on the speakers to come in. Sub should be mounted soon, as well as the deck. Stereo wires and power wires have been run properly through the car.
Also started the manual coversion, pedals are done, cables run, clutch master/slave cylinder installed. Lastly the shifter got installed.

Tinted the tailights as well, and test fit a 92 SC wing onto the car

Just made up a set of white face gauges and installed them. Here are the pics of them

Interior is nearly complete..........more and more done all the time. Just waiting for speakers to come in so I can finish the deck lid and front doors.

Starting on the engine, I got a 92 Saturn Header, cleaned it up and painted it with duplicolour high heat ceramic header paint

Got the engine stripped down to the block, going to be cleaning and painting it soon

Also got the tranny ripped apart to TIG weld the diff pin, so my g/f can spin those tires without fear of blowing up the tranny

Got the last part to get the interior done. My blaupunk PC650 came in and got installed, but first needed to prep the car for some extra bass.......time for dynomat

Pictures of the nearly complete door panels, just need to get the handles installed.

Now I haven't done this before, but I installed a 12" dual voice coil sub in the rear window, between the factory locations for the rear speakers. Also installed the rear tower bar that I had custom made

Here are a couple pics of the complete interior, one of the last mods for the interior is a new shifter handle

Lastly started working on the suspension and braking, the rear disk brakes are F!@#ED going to need to get new stuff, but the struts are fine for now. Installed sprint springs on the rear end currently, seeing as I have to take apart the front suspension to install the engine, so there is no point in installing the front just yet.

Honed the engine to get it ready for pistons......

Here are some pics of the engine bay. Notice that the subframe is screwed......damn rust, well time to re-build my spare subframe

Here is the spare subframe, alittle rusty, but not too bad, salvagable......cleaned it, rust proofed, and asphalt painted it.

Painted the intake manifold and cleaned it as well

Just started rebuilding a spare set of rear calipers, the ones on the car were so bad I couldn't save them

Finished the transmission buildup. Welded the diff pin, cleaned and painted the housing. Picked up a new clutch to put on her as well

Rebuilt and painted the calipers, looks pretty good, getting crossdrilled rotors to install soon.

Replaced the front and rear main seals, painted the timing chain cover to match the block and head.

Started rebuilding the throttle body, going to be sending it out to get bored out, probably going to 55mm, but I am going to see if they can get it to 56 or maybe 57mm

Finally got all the engine parts in to finish the engine.......5hrs, engine rebuilt, clutch installed, tranny installed, and bolted into the car

Worked another 8 hrs on the car, connected the wiring harness, installed the driveshafts, plugged everything in, installed the rad, rad fan, AC, ect, ect, ect. After all that I turned over the motor (other than a missing fuel pump fuse) it started well.

Also got the Throttle body back, it got bored to 54mm, could have done 55, but that is pushing the limits. The dirty TB is a stock one, I took the pics so that you can see the difference with the boring

Finally done everything, only a week late for xmas (my origonal finish date) I have a few things to tidy up, hook up, clean up, ect, ect, and I gotta hook up my laptop and check everything out with the stock computer. Here are the final pics of the exterior......coming still is new front and rear bumpers, new hood, spoiler, painted roof, tinting, but all that will be in the spring with the nicer weather.

Lastly is a photoshop idea of the paintjob for the car.......minus the wing, I didn't have a correct angle shot to paste on the car, and I forgot to tint the windows

Car is 99% done, need to fix a couple small things, wetsand and buff the car.......completed pics
