CamshaftMGB's 1974 MG MGB

Here's a pic of engine bay, with my (mostly) stock 1798CC B-Series engine on display. Here you can see my beautifully polished Stellings & Hellings air cleaners, mounted on my twin 1" SUs. 1974 was the last year for twin SU HIF4 carburetors. My car was built in October of 1974, making it a midyear 1974 model. This means that it has the rubber bumpers and raised ride height like the 1975 and later cars, but no emissions equipment. For more information about 1974 MGBs, see the bottom of page 1. You can also see my chrome oil filter cover from Summit Racing. Eventually I plan on attaching a grille badge to the top of the it for some extra flash. I also have a polished alloy valve cover to dress things up even more.

Modifications:
SU Solid State Electronic Fuel Pump
Pertronix Flame-Thrower Electronic Distributor
Pertronix Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt Chrome Coil
Magnecor KV85 Competition 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires

Anoher view of my engine bay. I'd like to clean it up some more and replace a few worn items but at least it's presentable. You can also see the prelube system I'm nerly done installing.

Parts Waiting To Be Installed:
Factory sway bar (from a 1978 MGB)
Negative camber wishbone arm set
New uprated front shocks
New uprated rear shocks
Carroll Shelby "CS" logo valve stem caps
Polished alloy valve cover
MGB-GT V8 a-arm bushings

The new vent grille & mesh are installed but I'm still playing with them, trying to make them fit properly.

Parts Being Installed (Current Projects):
AutoEngineLube Engine Prelube System

Want List
Saab Shelby Sport Wheels by Ronal (black spokes)
Carroll Shelby center caps
New tires - I'm thinking Falken Azenis 615s.
Black LE lugnuts
Stainless steel braided oil cooler & pre-oiler lines
K&N air filters
Cigarette lighter (I don't smoke but I do need a 12V outlet)
Fidanza alloy flywheel

I bought this toggle switch just for fun. Eventually, it will reside in the spare switch location in center console. For now, I'll just mount it next to my hazard switch on the switch panel I'm working on. I also bought a Dymo embossing labelmaker (for that utilitarian look) and made a label that says "EJECT." If 007 gets an Aston Martin, 700 gets an MGB, apparently...this switch will control my prelube system when it's installed.

I bought this onyx shift knob on eBay in November of 2005, almost a full year before I bought Charlotte. I suppose you could say that owning an MGB is a dream come true for me. I'm saving this to be the "crowning touch" of my future interior restoration.

Thanks again for visiting Charlotte! Be sure to rate me and leave me some comments before you go.

nice B, I installed a lowering kit from moss on my 74 1/2, it lowered it about an inch and it looks and handles great, I also installed a front anti-sway bar and a tube shock conversion, I drove from california to maryland and the ride was fine. should take a look at mine.

Nice! Mine was built in Nov. of 74. I've been thinking long and hard on a supercharger from Moss, but the suspension may come first. Like the looks of the handling package that's to be installed. Should really make her come alive.

Hey nice MGB. My father used to have a 74 1/2 also except that it was a GT. I have always liked both the B and GT and have always wanted a GT. Very cool. Also, check out my 1972 Triumph GT6 sometime. Later.

Nice MGB. That was my first choice but I could not pass up the deal I got on this car. I need something cheap to tinker with. My daily driver is a v12 XJS.
