THE CATMOBILE!

Hello, and thanks for takin' a look at my car. It's a beautiful, black (inside and out), 1972 Jaguar XJ6 Saloon. But this is no normal Series I Jaguar XJ6, under it's hood lies not a Jaguar 6, but rather a Chevrolet 350 small block V8. The 350 is a common, but awesome, engine swap for Jaguars. It's lighter, more powerful, cheaper to mod and repair, and if all that wasn't enough it sits farther back in the engine bay and improves the F/R balance and gives it better handling. Oh, did I forget to mention it gets better gas mileage too!

I got her in the summer of '06 from a guy who ended up living right down the street. Gotta love craigslist :) I had seen, and ogled, at the car on a number of occasions. The guy was getting married, and needed the money. What a sucker, does he honestly think women are better than cars? At least when cars break down on you, you can fix them... Women just keep getting worse and worse with age...

I'm almost 21 years old, and this is the first car I have ever owned and driven I truly want and enjoy. I had a '69 Charger w/ a 440 and a 4 speed manual in HS, but had to sell it before I got the radiator installed and got it on the road. Damn that infernal police officer for arresting me for under aged drinking (not while driving thank you) and losing my license, thanks to a stupid Washington state law. I never woulda sold that thing if that hadn't happened. But all that's in the past, and now I have this.

What's that you ask, "Why the silly nickname? Catmobile, WTF???". Very simple answer. I've always had a habit of yelling "TO THE BATMOBILE!!!" for as long as I've been driving as I went back to my car. One of my friends one day not long after I got this car said in response "Hey, it's not a Batmobile... (he always loved to point out that my Explorer wasn't a Batmobile either) it's a Catmobile." And so the nickname was born. It seems fitting enough since it's a black car, and the marquee is named after a large cat.

Now enough of my blabbering that no one is going to read, and onto the pictures!

Here are a couple of exterior shots. Sorry for the fairly low quality, but all these were shot on my PDA Phones camera, it's the only digital camera I have.

A nice side profile of the car

A shot of the gaudy front grill. I'm still not sure if I think this style looks better than the more sleek, later grills. But it certainly does set it apart.

A couple of shots of its rear end. I think the rear on the Series I are better looking than any other XJ6s made.

A close up of the rims. These came off of a Series III Jaguar XJ6.

Great ride! Sorry for the delayed response haven't been on this site for a bit. Winston is doing well, he has been on a few cruises with the local Jag club and has been running great! Very Best.

Nice jag. I've got a TPI 350 in my '94 XJ6. I don't know about compete with a new 'vette or an BMW M-series, but you could try. That tpi will really get up and go though.

I'm selling my jaguar are you interested? The price is 10,500 but might go lower seeing you are a jaguar person yourself. Email me at Jaguarxj12er@yahoo.com If you want my number and info on the car

Hey Man! Nice ride. The Series I is a pretty car, I love the bumpers. I was actually thinking about switching mine out for those, but living in the city I kind of like having the rubber. Again, sweet ride.
