2-8-07
I have been doing a whole bunch of stuff to the g-unit lately. As you can see in the pics i sanded the car down and got rid of all of the graffiti. Me and my dad have sanded and sprayed both quarter panels both doors the roof and the tailgate with grey urethane primer. We Just Base coated and Clear Coated the door jams and Inner fenders Purple today which is 2-8-07 to see all of the pictures go to page 2. We have the front clip off of the car I put POR-15 on everything from the firewall up and we took the 229 v-6 out and put in the 305 v-8 from my 81 in. I am putting a 350 in my 81.
Before and after pictures the one on the left is when i first got it the one on the right is the work i have done on it. I have not done any body work to the car all i did was strip all the paint off and sprayed primer over the body.
first pictures i took of My 1983 el camino that i bought Tuesday september 12th 2005.The guy i bought it from took it to a mechanic shop, he said that he thought it needed plugs and wires he said he knew nothing about cars. The shop took the carbuerator off and it was in a million peices so when i got the car we pulled it up on the trailer. So i went and got another carbuerator put it on and primed it once and the car started right up.I went to test drive it and i put it in reverse and it died, it would set and purr like a kitten but it would not go when you put it in gear.So we turned the distributor alittle bit and off i went, i took it down the highway at 65 mph it ran and drove like a dream. little did i know the steering wheel was not even bolted down, I was sitting in it and i pulled on the steering wheel and it came off!!! What would have happened if it would have came off when i was driving at 65, i would have been in trouble big time.Oh yea by the way it had a 231 v6 for a motor when i got it, i removed that engine and put in a 305 v8.
I went to the junkyard and bought a black headliner, black sun visors and black carpet all new out of a el camino that got wrecked. So i gutted the interior in it and i am redoing the interior to all black as you see i have the carpet in i have the column in and the headliner and sunvisors and the peices around the back window.
BEFORE
AFTER
The bed is in excellent shape it does not have one dent on the floor i found a few on the sides but not many. The bed is nicer than either one of my other el camino's.
Here is a rear picture of the el camino. I would like to beat the crap out of whoever did this to the el camino. But it no longer looks like this it now looks like a real car. This car has a perfect body there is not rust even the floor pans are perfect!
Picture of one of the wheels I have since took off the ugly centers, and it now has 3 spoke spinner centers which are on the right the wheels are going to be the same color as the car.
I have done a whole lot to this car in the 2 months i have had it. I have put it all in primer, removed the v-6 and dropped in a v-8,and I have Started converting the interior to black. The Paint will be Purple. This car is coming along pretty good hopefully in the next few months i will be driving it.
Check out my other 2 El Camino's.
