This is my 66' Impala Sedan Sport with a 396/325hp from the factory. The vehicle has 42,000 documented original miles.
Here is the car in stock for when I purchased it off Ebay.
Installed 15X7 rallye wheels with white walls.
Original Paint, car has never been painted. I just took a buffer and some 3M polishing compound to her.
Original F-41 Suspension with 12 bolt and 3.31's Clean body, no rust
I installed Hedman Headers, X pipe, 3 inch pipes and Flowmaster 30 series mufflers
I installed a Knee Knocker Tach and a chrome triple gauge assembly to keep her looking old school and simple. This is the original interior. It has never been re-apholstered. It even has the original floor mat from the 1960's.
I pulled the motor out to paint everything in the engine bay. Just a before and after pic
Didn't touch the bottom end. Just cleaned up the engine, installed a Comp Cams Xtreme Marine 270H cam kit, roller rockers, EDL performer RPM intake, EDL 750cfm electric choke carb and a 2200 rpm stall converter.
Everything put back together cleaned and painted
Udpdate! August 2006
I got the horsepower itch and went out and bought a 496 stroker. All forged internals. I got the motor put together and used a Voodoo 60204 camshaft. I have since removed the Voodoo cam and went with a bigger Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 294 cam. This cam really really woke up the motor. It has way more power than I will ever need for a street bruiser.
The new motor in all of it's Glory! The XE294 was installed late February 2007. I don't plan to change anything else as far as performance. A lot of people say that Oval port heads are better for the street compared to Rectangle port heads. I wouldn't know the difference because the car has so much torque on the bottom end even with the Rectangular port heads that are supposed to perform at high RPM's
!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE October 2008 !!!!!!!!!!!!
OK Guys and Gals. I was fed up with the big motor! The motor ran great and had tons of horsepower but only getting 6mpg wasn't practical for me to really enjoy driving the car as much as I wanted to. I managed to sell the 496 and I went with a SBC 327. I went from 6 mpg with the 496 to an average of 15 mpg with the new 327. I'm sure a lot of the muscle heads would not agree with me putting a SBC into a factory BBC car but I enjoy driving this car 3 to 4 times a week. She runs great with the 327 and still sounds good.
The block is a 1968 327. I believe she's a 210hp motor. I cleaned up the long block, painted it and added the Edelbrock Performer EPS manifold and an Edelbrock 600cfm electric choke carb.
