Jim's 1992 Mustang GT

My 1992 Mustang GT
I bought my Mustang from a family friend in late fall of '03. The previous owner was the original owner and had kept it BONE STOCK during the years he had it. I bought it for $3,900 with 82,000 original miles on body and engine. The car didn't stay stock for long. I immediately put a full exhaust system on the car including Long Tube headers, a X-pipe and a Flowmaster cat-back system. This satisfied me during the summer of 04 as I was just learning how to drive a 5-speed manual and learning to correctly drive rear wheel drive. When fall of '04 came big changes came into place. I bought a Vortech supercharger for the car. A 10-rib set-up with a 10lb pulley. The head unit was faulty since I bought it used so I sent the head unit back to Vortech for a rebuild. The car was out of commission till spring '05. Once I got the vortech on I went for the dyno tune. With a completely stock Long Block I put down on the dyno 372 RWHP and 411 RWTQ. Quite impressive considering the only mods were full exhaust, and 3.73 rear end gears. I drove that baby for all of the '05 summer. I never got to go to the track and see what it ran but I am guessing it ran low 12's. When Fall of '05 came I decided to put the car back to stock so I can sell it. I had my eyes on a Sonic Blue 2003 Cobra. So I sold all my accesories (minus the Flowmaster, 3.73's and 255 Fuel Pump) to a friend and put the car up for sale. I had a buyer come down from Michigan to buy it. He came all the way down and then backed out. He ended up buying a '96 Cobra instead. I got stuck with my car. Winter '05 came and I stored it away. Contimplating what I should do I tossed up the ideas of putting a blower back on, or doing a Head, Cam, Intake combo, or even going turbo. In the end I decided to keep the car and do a top-end build. Consisting of a H/C/I combo. So all winter and spring I saved up my money and in the summer of '06 I went all out and dropped $6,000 on the engine of my car (not including labor). I bought AFR 165cc heads milled to 55cc chambers, an Edelbrock RPM II intake manifold, and a custom ground FTI cam with specs .566 Lift and 218*/224* duration. With all the other supporting components (fuel, exhaust, valvetrain, etc...) I went to have it installed and dyno tuned. This combination put down 310 RWHP and 316 RWTQ. Not bad at all for N/A 302. Stock shortblock and all. This is were I stand now. As winter and spring '07 approaches I plan on saving my money and putting a Vortech back on the car, only difference is this time I will have heads, cam and an intake to compliment the blower. I am aiming for 460-470 RWHP and a low 11 timeslip at the track. Either that Vortech route or I will buy a 331 or 347 shortblock assembly to be the foundation of all my future mods. Over the winter I will decide which route I will go. Only time stands in the way now...
