Next stop was the dragstrip. Granted the car's suspension isn't optimized for straightline performance, but it should still run a good number. Curb weight with a full tank of gas is 3602 (got weighed at the Divisional as part of tech), so the car is heavy. So Atco raceway was the place and in full street trim except for a set of BFG drag radials I was stuck in the mid to high 12's.
Enter a set of MT ET Streets and the willingness to drive it like a man. BAM 11.79 @ 118
This run was late in the year, December actually...nice cool air good track prep and launching at 5000 and flat shifting at 6200. Best mph that day was 119. I still can't get the car to 60' really well. Best so far is mid 1.7's.
All this fun comes at a price thought. Can you say broken torque arm mount? Bolts came loose on the Moser 12-bolt and then the Spohn mount gave out. This must have happened over a period of time. I heard clunking in the rear, but thought it was a rod end failing. Either way, my fault for not attending to it sooner.
The remaining three bolts hold in the TA mount
The repaired hole in the upper mount. Use two stacked heli-coils loctited into the hole.
I plan on loctiting the new bolts and saftey wiring them for added security.
After making new brake lines that better fit the 12-bolt housing, new brakes, rotors, brake sliders and dust boots I re-installed the new TA mount from Spohn. Red loctite and torqued to 96ft-lbs and then saftey wired the bolts for good measure.
