1987 Chevy Monte Carlo 350 SS

Doing a smoke show
What it looked like after sitting behind my shop for 3 years
The 350, after it was just set in the engine bay

The old front clip set in to place
This was originally my mom's car. I ended up with it my junior year of high school when my 84 jeep cherokee died. I got a crash course in winter driving, taking a told on the front fenders. I drove this car until it started knocking the end of my junior year. I then took the front clip off the car with intent to put a new motor in it over the summer. Well my attention got to my 79 Ford Bronco and the car slowly found its way sitting behind my shop for the next 3 years. I hit a stopping point with my 79 when I couldn't afford a few parts for it.I then was looking for something else in the yard to tinker with. I had the 350 sitting on my shop floor from a 79 Chevy bus that I parted out. So I went and pulled the Monte out from behind the shop. Me and my buddy Larry wahsed of the 3 years of dirt and time off and rolled it into the shop. Out came the factory L-69 305 HO and the 200 4-R.The 305 then had the asscesory brackets taken off as did the 350. The 350 was put on the engine stand for cleaning painting and a few gaskets that where leaking. I ended up tearing it down to a short block, and finding a sucked valve on #3 cylinder. Also I found out that it has flat top pistons. I stole the heads off another SBC I had laying around. Those heads had some light port work done. Taking the oil pan off I found it has a 4 bolt main. I ran the numbers on it and found out it is a high nickel content block. I threw a Clyones doulbe roller timing chain and a gasket kit in it and painted it. I then topped it off with a Edlebrock performer intake and 600 Cfm carb. It got mated back with the 200 4-R and dropped in the car. I then put on Headman Shorty header to acommedate the dipstick tube. It now runs and will soon have it ready for the street.
