Tinkerbell_too's 2003 Ford MustangINTERIOR: TRUNK MAT
************************************************************************************************************************

We custom made our own trunk mat versus buying one...
Tinkerbell_too's 2003 Ford MustangTinkerbell_too's 2003 Ford Mustang

How it was done...
First I had to make the plexiglass pony we will install on the mat... I made a paper template and traced it onto the plexi. I left the protective covers in place on the plexi and cut out the shape...

Traced around the plexi Mustang to help place it for recessing

Syrofoam will melt when paint hits it, so I used it to melt the styrofoam to form a recess for the Mustang to sit in.

Here you can see where I marked where the support beams hit the mat. This is where I will install the push pins to hang it on the truck lid.

The speaker box carpet I used.... matched the stock trunk carpet

Tinkerbell_too's 2003 Ford Mustang

I glued the carpet with 3m super 90 (?) Spray adhesive. You spray it on both surfaces and then place the carpet down. I had to go slow to work it into the recesses without creasing the material

Push pins installed before the carpet was glued down for a cleaner look

Time to paint the pony...

Tinkerbell_too's 2003 Ford Mustang

I painted the backside so the paint could not get chipped. This meant doing the tri stage color in reverse. I had to first lay the transparent red metallic, then silver, followed by black to eliminate any remaining transparency.

We finished him off with a satin billet like mane and tail...

He is held up with industrial strength velco. It is only needed on the pony. The velco sticks great to the box carpet all by itself...

Looks beautiful and that sucks about the accident. all your pin stripe decals and all the extra black stuff you have done to the stang is alot but its not too much it makes your car look freakin mean

thats a BAD mustang!! i like the "new leader" pic at the top of ur page. GM doesn't make a good looking muscle car. the mustang has always been the measuring stick in looks. 5 stars
