197985's 1983 Cadillac Eldorado
As you can see from the pictures, this Eldorado has been reincarnated. I actually found this one locally by mistake. I missed my turn and had to go around the block and saw it behind a mechanic’s shop. It was the guy’s mother’s car and when she stopped driving about three years ago, he just parked it at the back of his lot. He’d go out occasionally and start it and maybe go get parts with it every once in awhile, but basically it’s been sitting for the last few years. The mechanic was quite willing to part with the vehicle, but it ran really rough. I required it to run smoothly before I’d buy it. I didn’t want to be stuck someplace beside the 50 miles of rural road on the way home!

One of the first things we had to do was get rid of the old gas and replace the in-tank fuel pump. A new tank of 10% ethanol, a fuel filter, and a fuel pump did the deed and it runs smooth as silk. I bought the car with the odometer at 90,276. HT4100 engine and transmission are smooth and strong.

Next, there was the paint. Sitting outside for three years oxidized every horizontal flat surface. It looked like primer instead of paint. It was the kind of car you only wanted to drive at night and then only in areas where nobody knew you. So, off came all the chrome to reduce masking and get the best repaint possible. (See pictures) The top, hood, and trunk were professionally stripped to bare metal and primed. The remainder of the car was professionally sanded and prepared. The vehicle was then repainted in the original Astural Silver (GM Paint Code 15) and it turned out really good, as you can see. I hand polished each piece of chrome as I reassembled the car and they now look almost showroom fresh! There is a new hood ornament.

The interior is light tan leather and is in great shape with an original leather wrapped steering wheel. Other interior features include: six-way adjustable power seats for both driver and passenger; workable electric door locks for both sides; remotely adjustable side mirrors; after-market AM/FM/Cassette replaced with workable ’83 Cadillac Eldorado AM/FM/Cassette; power windows.

Other things accomplished include: matched set of four 90% 205/70R15 Michelin tires; rebuilt trunk pull down motor; and two new hood gas struts.

This great vehicle turned out to be one of the best of the six that we’ve found, cleaned up and restored, and now are reselling. The vehicle appeared in the Weippe Rodeo Parade today with the next Congressman from the Idaho 1st District as my passenger. I plan to enter the car in Lewiston's "Hot August Nights" show and shine on 24 August. Yes, ladies and gentleman, this car is that good!!

After posting this fine vehicle on eBay, it now happly resides in Colorado Springs, CO and the new owner was really pleased.
