tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang Lethal 2.3 is a 84 Mustang LX with a 4" cowl induction hood made by H.O.FIBERTRENDS. Also from H.O.FIBERTRENDS the fiberglass trunk lid. The last time I ran it at the trails it went 15.9 at 80mph, it died at half track, comes to find out later the carb. ran out of gas and it blew the spark plugs apart. The fuel pump wasent big enough to keep up. Fixed the problem with a mechanical CARTER FUEL PUMP high volume. Other light wheight items include a aluminum front bumper off 79 turbo mustang, aluminum driveshaft, racing seats, and coming soon a tubular k member..
tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford MustangThis is the fuel pump that fixed the problem. Its every bit as big as the V8 high volume fuel pumps. It really likes this pump. Dont know what she would run now. The reason I built a 4cly is because its different. All the mustangs Ive seen they almost all had the 5.0.( When you beat a V8 with a V8 its like so what but when you beat a V8 with a 4cly. its funny they can never live it down.)

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang Picture of the rear of the car. All the fiberglass parts fit perfect. Dave Lanman makes the best fiberglass parts for the fox body mustangs. Alot of guys dont like the color of my paint I like it. When I get it painted it will be the same color.

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang With alot of mods, mods includes a 500 lift 310 duration machanical cam with the rpm range of 4000 to 8100. This engine has 12 to 1 compression with ESSLINGER oval port intake. Bolted to that is a chokeless 500cfm HOLLEY carburetor with a billet metering block and billet bowl extention. K&N FILTER 9" by 3 1/2 with the extreme top.MSD IGNITION Blaster coil with MSD 6AL ignition box and MSD supper conductor plug wires.
Other mods include aluminum flywheel that weighs 8lbs. windage tray, port job on head, big valves, dual valve springs, pro 4 header, 3 inch exhaust, and light weight aluminum under drive pulleys. Alt. pulley was custom made.

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang Look inside the NOS is located in the glove box. Check it out. It is a Sneaky Pete packing up to 50 horses. Out of the box it is only 25hp, I had to modify it to improve horsepower. I spray the NOS in manualy with a HURST SHIFTER knob with the botton on the side so I can have control of the spray. The shifter is a Hurst Quater Stick lower and a South Side Machine upper. Cant forget the billet aluminum door handle bezels.
tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford MustangSneaky pete. I had to cut the glove box it get it to fit. I also used mag light mounts for your D cell flashlights. They worked perfectly. Look you can see the silonoid is bolted right on the bottle. You can even run these off of a nine volt batt. Pete sure is sneaky.
tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford MustangGo baby go! I love the short throw shifter in this car.
The seat are POLY SEATS made of impact-absorbing plastic and seat covers.
Add a GRANT STEERING WHEEL chrome Challenger style.
Also a five inch AUTOMETER monster tach with shift light.

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang Look a 2.3 4cyl cranking up the rpms. Lets see your 5 liter do some of that. 8750 rpm. Thats not where I shift but it still runs hard at that rpm. I shift about 8100-8200. When I'm racing I launch it at 7500rpm, I dont have any traction issues. She hooks up and goes.

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang

tonysmustangs's 1984 Ford Mustang The rearend is a 8.8 with 513 MOTIVE GEARS, JEGS rear end girdle, Jegs lowers and the upper are a set of South Side Machine. A Corba R rear sway bar was bolted up, and aluminum drive shaft. Set of CENTERLINE WHEELS brand Convo-Pros mounted on them is a set of MICKEY THOMPSON ET street radials size p275/50/r15. I know what your thinking "there is no way he drives this on the street with that gear ratio" Well the truth is I drive it on the street all the time. Motor turns 2850rpm at 55mph. I'll drive it anywhere as long as I have gas money. It only gets about 11 to 12 miles a gallon and wont run on pump gas. She likes the good stuff.

Love the 2.3 pictures. Man about how much HP do you have, I'm doin the same thing accept for autocross and road racing. Some of those parts tyou got I've never seen before. Hey those headlights covers come in clear and help reduce drag.

Nice stang! It's cool to see a normally aspirated 2.3 putting down some power!
