Just had my driver side door stolen off my front porch after fresh paint so rather than try to match it I decided to switch to a Supertop with cloth doors. I always wanted the doors for the fact they are so thin that I can keep my back seat in and run my tonneau and the upper and lower door and go on the hunt for a set of hard doors. I run my bikini and tonneau about 6 or 7 months out of the year so its nice to have a little side cover from doors in the rain. I decided to go with the tinted rear windows. I didn't know how much I would like them at first but now I think I feel more enclosed so in turn a little more comfortable.
I recently made some rocker guards out of 3/16" with a built in step that is also made from 3/16". Then skinned the top half in diamond plate for some grip and to match the rear corners.
I also fixed some rot around the "Jeep" logo on the driver side. Once I fixed the area I decided to Paint the whole Jeep. The paint was getting very thin in a lot of areas anyway. So I wetsanded the whole Jeep with 400, fixed the dings and dents and removed just about everything from the body and sent it off to paint for the original paint, Moss Green Pearlcoat in single stage polyurethane. It came out GREAT.
The snorkel is another recent addition and it would have been a simple thing if I did not have lights on the windshield hinges. So I cut into the hinge just enough to allow the snorkel to move where it needed to go.
