Welcome to my page.

splatteredguts02's 1965 Ford Mustang

splatteredguts02's 1965 Ford MustangThis is my 1965 Mustang coupe. It has a 289ci V8 motor, 4-barrel carb, headers, dual exhaust, automatic transmission, and power steering to name a few. This is going to be my new restoration project and I've got quite a few plans for it.

splatteredguts02's 1965 Ford MustangSo far its about 45% restored by the previous owner and already in great shape as it is. It has quite a few miles on it, but nevertheless it still runs nice and strong. The body is nice and straight and recently had some rust removal done (which, as you may know, is a big problem here in Hawaii).

splatteredguts02's 1965 Ford MustangThe car is still riding on the stock suspension which, after 37 years, shows its age. It squeeks and rattles a lot, and bottoms out sometimes, and it has a busted control arm on the left side which makes tight right turns a nightmare! Thats really about the biggest problem area with this car, so my first plans are going to be rebuilding the front and rear suspension.

What's really nice about this car is the interior. It has new vinyl deluxe front bucket and rear seats, new carpeting and new headliner, as well as a 13" sport-style steering wheel. The dash needs a little work as well as the doors, and the driver's side window needs a new regulator.

splatteredguts02's 1965 Ford MustangThe motor is in good shape, despite having over 250k miles on it. It starts nice and smooth on the first turn of the key, and puts you back in your seat when you hit the accelerator. I'm going to rebuild it later on down the road, but for now it runs just fine. The headers are also a little rusty and will probably be one of the first things I replace. The exhaust sounds nice and throaty, and even sets a few car alarms off from the deep loud rumble.;)

Make sure to check back often, cause I'll be updating with new pics and info as I make progress. Please also sign my guestbook and let me know what you think.

Nice mustang man. I hear ya on the suspension problems, I just had to have the whole front and rear suspension, brakes, and steering replaced because of the stupid ass that owned it before me. And boy was turning a nightmare. Awesome interior!

Hey, where did you find that steering wheel at? I just bought a 65 a few days ago out of a salvage yard and just realized when I sat in it that its not for folks over 6 feet with that big stock steering wheel!!
