This is my 04 Mazdaspeed Turbo Roadster. #2448 of 4000, born on 4/6/04. Some of the pics throughout these pages are from just after I bought this car, before I changed things, so you will see some variances. This car has every single factory option and MANY non-factory parts!
And this is me:
I have a degree in Automotive Systems Technology, I'm a drivability diagnostics technician at a Cadillac/GMC/Buick/Mazda dealership and I build performance machines on the side. I'm taking some classes this fall to get ready to go into an engineering degree in fall 2010.
UPDATES..
8/5/09 - added pics and specs of my motorcycle to PAGE 5 . Check it out! I'll be adding more pics of the bike on page 5 from now on because there's no option on cardomain for making pages for motorcycles. [lame!]
3/25/09 - pic of my cold-air box added to page 3.
3/11/09 - I built a cold-air box for my (modified) flyin' miata intake. I haven't taken pics yet, but i should be able to find the time this week. It's a stainless steel box of my own design with 2000 degree radiant heat reflective material on the outside. It fits snugly in the front left corner of the engine compartment and follows it's contours. It takes in outside air forced through the space between the front fascia and the fog lights.
ALSO..
If you have a miata, CHECK THIS OUT!

7/11/08 - update #1 In the middle of May, I went on a solo road-trip around the eastern US. I drove over 2000 miles through North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, back through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and back to NC.
update #2 Back in March, I was hit direct on the driver side by a volvo stationwagon. This was the result:
over $8000 damage. But, it's been all fixed for a while now, and I've been top-down driving like mad! And just for good measure, I already put a nice little nick in the driver door paint.
update #3 NEW intercooler! YAAAY!! Took out the old intercooler, chopped some piping off, affixed a larger intercooler. Pretty straight forward. Since I'm now blocking all the direct air flow to the radiator, I installed a lower temperature thermostat (160* instead of 180*) and a higher pressure radiator cap to help protect from overheating and boiling respectively. So far, it's worked perfect for several months. Pics on page 3!
update #4 Ground Control threaded coil over spring perches with Eibach race springs! I love these things. MUCH smaller than the mazdaspeed springs, but stronger spring rates, lighter weight, all while maintaining good road manners. They work perfect with my Bilstein shocks, they're easy to adjust, they look spectacular. I thought this thing could corner before.. now it really is like kart racing! Pictures on page 3!!
update #5 After about 8 months of driving on the 17" riax wheels, I decided to put the 15" Kosei K1 TS back on. At only 10.5 lbs a piece, they're MUCH lighter weight. Enough less rotational unsprung weight that I can feel the difference. Faster acceleration, shorter braking, faster steering response, lower center of gravity.. especially now with the Ground Controls.
update #6 Finally replaced the downpipe with an FM stainless steel DP with high-flow catalyst. 7.2 lbs lighter than stock, and it allows the turbo to breath much easier. This combined with the MagnaFlow pipes that include everything behind the downpipe.. it sounds like roadster SHOULD sound. Strong, throaty burble, tuned exhaust note, NO harsh or raspy sounds at any RPM. It pretty much sounds like the old british roadsters after they had been fully built for racing.
8/21/07 - First place in my class at SpeedFed Nationals!!

Oh.. to feel that deep, innermost awakening, that arousal of latent rapturous emotion solely effectuated by moving unconscionably faster than the human body was ever meant to go, by incessantly pushing the verge of the laws of physics; that titillating sensation, equidistant between the conscious and the subconscious which is entirely unfathomable to those who haven't experienced it, don't understand it, or those who only care about looking like they're fast.
I just can't justify spending a lot of money on looks when performance is so much more.. vivifying.
