This is my 1966 Dodge Dart 270 that I share with my little brother. My uncle gave it to us in late June after having it parked in his back yard for 12 years. It's kind of funny, cuz the last time he drove it, it was from our house to his. Twelve years later, he tows it from his house back to ours.
He bought it from my great-grandad in the '73(?), had the engine rebuilt in '85.
She's got a 225 ci Slant 6 engine, an automatic transmission, and some kind of axle.
It's not the fastest vehicle on the road, or the biggest (hence, the name) but it's a good little car.
I put a battery in it, jumped it, and it ran like a dream!!
No shuddering, shaking, bad timing, or the like. Just smooth running. Now, it needed a few parts:
A throttle return spring
A new steering wheel (the old one was broken)
A new (well, junkyard new) blinker assembly
However, she leaks coolant into the oil. I put one bottle of Bar's Stop Leak into the radiator and ran it for forty mintues. No more leak. I also need to change all of the fluids and bleed the brakes, rebuild the carbueretor, get a new set of tires, have a mechanic-friend inspect it at his shop and repair it as needed, but it should be ok to drive.
I'm still amazed that it started after twelve years, on twelve-year-old stale gasoline at that. What can I say, it's a Dodge.
Unfortunatly, I have too many cars and I plan on selling this one. Oh, well.
Tried to start it awhile back but the plugs were coated in oil, I think the head needs rebuilt.
I gave this car to my mom for Christmas because she absoloutly loves it. I'll rebuild it for her.
